  1. Do you keep the R888s just for the track and use a spare set of wheels for everyday use? I'd imagine you would only get a few thousand miles out of them?

    888's for dry track use

T1r's for wet track and daily use :o

actually they might be F1's

I take it this is just personal preference as they're a legal road tyre so should be ok(ish) in the wet?

they are ok in the wet, but not where there is standing water,

they are also expensive and dont last as long as normal tyres

probably looking for another set for next season !!

  2. Even the pros make mistakes...did you squash a few cones!

    I heard they survived though

well they reappeared on the next lap :o

    and I got a void run :(

Why give you a void, wouldn't a time penalty be better?

times are so close, a time penalty would ruin the lap time anyway

and sometimes to hit a cone would give a big advantage in cutting the route and getting a lower time :D

we are all under the same rules so i think it is fair

  4. Well done mate, good video :D

How do you remember that course though! :o

it is hard and takes a few laps

you get 2 slow sighting laps followed by 2 untimed laps

then onto 7 or 8 timed laps

    although you still forget !!

take a look at 2:20 for what happens when you forget !!

and that was on the 5th timed lap

Please wait a few moments for Video to Load!

  5. The Toyota sprint series hit Woodbridge this weekend

a long 2.6 mile course, made up of smooth tarmac to gravel

not only do you need to drive as fast as you can, you also need to remember where you are going :)

happy to say I picked up a 1st in class, with a time of 2.35minutes

putting me into 9th place overall, rather chuffed as the "other cars" range from 500hp monsters to 4wd mini monsters

not to mention the excellent drivers now involved, Jonny Milner (ex british rally champ) took overall 1st

here is a video from the on-board camera

  6. Think i've just found the problem with the steering? The NSF track rod has colapsed and the ball joint is rattling around in its socket :o How it passed its MOT the other week i'll never know? (must be a good mate of the seller? :o :o )

Just cant believe someone would pass it off as being safe, and its proabably the worst worn one i've seen for years and suprised the ball joint hasnt popped out ot the socket yet

So just ordered a new one to replace it and hopefully it'll feel a lot better when i corner

    that doesnt sound good !

perhaps pop back to the MOT centre and ask them if they feel that is ok, maybe blag them into replacing it, before you report them :o

  7. i find it worrying that the average car owner who generally doesnt have a clue on geometry, take their cars to someone who they believe is a professional they get left with a dangerous set up :o

how do they get away with it ?

it is only through driver feedback that any problems get highlighted, no other check is ever carried out, we moan about the MOT , but perhaps it should include a check, i wonder how many accidents have been caused by bad geometry :o problem is that after an accident the geometry i guess would be presumed to be out

  8. Wooo Eagle Venturas! Haven't seen them for a while! Are they still avaliable ?

I believe letter of the law is 75% across the central three quarters with visible tread on the remaining quarter.

Second picture is almost certainly illegal.

nope ! can be bald on the remaining 25%

unless its gross weight is over 3500kg

  9. Hi tunnie

It's possible things have moved since we set the chassis, 40k on any tyres is a mighty fine result :) saying that your pushing the law with them now so i advise you replace them anytime soon.

Thanks Tony, i was afraid you were going to say that :)

I'll pop down at the weekend for a set of front boots and a tune up!

Sorry mate... Tiss the law  If you are coming at the weekend let me know for sure because we are rammed...... It's all those pesky customers :)

I posted here cause i knew i would get an honest answer! Too many places make that sound of sucking air through their teeth and say "oooo need new ones there"

I shall ring tomorrow, sadly, i cannot get down during the week.

i would say it is touch and go wether it is on the legal or illegal side

either way dont risk yourself and get a new set
