  1. What has happened to this?

Has he fallen of the face of the earth.

I don't know Pip. I haven't seen him on LOC for a while either.

It will be a shame if Mikes expectations were not met. Unfortunately this industry is infested with incapable "companies" that over promise and under deliver, so the unwary can easily fall victim.

It is crystal clear that Mike has been agressively antagonistic towards myself and people that I respect in the past, but I bear no grudges and hope that it works out well for him :)

  2. Looks like it's getting serious now Barrie :thumbsup_anim:

Is it going to be ready for Germany tomorrow?

    i hope so

new front discs fitted, new front pads fitted and all bedded in

i decided to fit the hks water temp meter on sunday, the original sender position was a different size so had to remove the pipework, drill out and re-tap the hole to suit,

whilst doing this i noticed the screamer pipe had developed a crack on the flange, so that came off and got re-welded

so ...i hope its all ready, but i have stopped looking for anything else now

    Fantastic stuff

I hope you and Janey have a great weekend :D

  3. When I was a boy, when we built the engines for Noahs Ark, we used to machine horizontal grooves in the piston skirt. The theory behind this was to provide an oil retention groove which could help reduce piston scuffing.

That sort of operation is no longer required now that the manufacturing tolerances and designs of the pistons and cylinder blocks have greatly improved :)

  4. Liking the video Barrie

I must say, I'm really chuffed that you chose TDi to undertake this work, and impressed that you managed to keep your chin up in the face of some problems during the process. I think the painful birth has been well worthwhile though :P

Any more plans for her or is it a case of enjoying what you have for a while?

  5. Yeah the cost of the parts is good, but fitting and the like all adds up :D

i have a feeling ill be buying a new rear shock...

    Cheers for all the comments

I should think there a lots of second shocks lying around, judging by the amount of suspension kits being fitted :D

  6. Time to get you smiling again and enjoying the fruits of your endeavours :)

We spent most of today finishing it off. Sam is off on a road test and shake down now.

be interested in Sams opinions and any recommendations he can offer

lets hope he stops shaking soon :)

I won't tell you what he said - give him a call tomorrow morning and find out. I think he's stopped shaking now :)

I'm in meetings all morning so I wont be at TDi Towers until around lunchtime.

  7. Hi Continuity,

I think you are refering to the Tein Basic system which costs £400 plus vat (Less Gold or Platinum discount).

These have fixed damping and adjustable ride height.

These are very cost effective and what we would describe as "entry level". There other more expensive variants available too.

    Hope this helps

    All the best

    Mark

  8. Honestly though that image is quite alarming. Was there any indication of the evolvement... Like odd electrics or the smell of burning?

The wirinng did actually start to catch fire. Only in a very small way because we able to deal with it quickly. Where the wires had fused together and shorted, the elctriical componts such as lights and indicators etc remained on. We had to replace about a 12 inches section of the loom so everything is OK now (except for the indicators which Barrie wants to deal with).

  9. Great pictures Pete - thanks for that :thumbsup_anim:

We have been "heads down, bums up" (no comments from you please Mr Surgical virus :) ) on Barrie and Janeys Pocket Rocket for a while now dealing with various issues. It's been a real challenge putting the icing on the cake to their blood, sweat and tears.

I road tested it today - I have to say it's impressive :)

  10. We've had a few tribulations with Bazzas Starlet recently but there is light at the end of the tunnel now.

Approxmately 90% of the mapping is done (all of the full throttle calibration) up to 1 bar, so a bit road testing and sorting some niggles tomorrow and it should be ready soon :D

  11. Keep your eyes on the dyno cam today peeps :offtopic:

Ohhh does that mean I'm going to get sacked again for keeping an eye on the 'cam' all day :thumbsup_anim: :graduated:

I think that would be a bit harsh, after all you only looking after The Boss' best interests :)
