  1. It's ok, I am going to take it to an ATS Euromaster down the road just now, they guy sounded pretty knowledgeable and they can do a print out. I will revert back once I have the print out or by some magic they manage to fix the problem.
  2. Right that's interesting. So basically do I need to go somewhere where they give you a print out?
  3. Can you show me a picture of what I am looking for and I can try and replicate that picture for you. Apologies I am an absolute idiot when it comes to cars.
  4. OK Tony, I think I understand. Do you know of anyone in my neck of the woods who does this sort of thing. Based in Glasgow.
  5. Sorry for having taken so long to reply, have been away for a while. Anyway here goes in answer to your questions..... 1. I have tried putting the front wheels to the back, well at least the garage told me they did it and I pretty much had the same problem, vibration in the steering. I have to say though that it feels like the whole car is shuddering, my phone shudders with the satnav on it attached to the window. 2. Tony, it was full geometry I was told. It is a place called Caledonia Wheel Alignment in Glasgow. Unfortunately the computer wasnt working so I couldnt get a print out but the measured the ride height and had all the lasers out and it all appeared hunky dory. Both balancing and the alignment made it slightly better, at least I hope that wasnt just me thinking it was made better. I am at the end of my tether, I love the car but seriously considering punting it as it just feels so unsafe at at 75 plus mph. Someone has suggested it might be the tyres, I am ashamed to say they are budget tyres which I have never changed since I got it. Also when I took it for the balancing I asked the guy doing it to check for buckles and he said he couldnt find any. If I cant fix it soon I am afraid its gonna have to go!
  6. Hi I heard this was the place to come for advice so here I am. I bought a 55 plate mx5 1.8 option pack in April last year. When I first went on the motorway at 70mph I felt a horrendous shudder through the steering. As the speed went up the shudder got worse and could not be driven through. I took the car back to the dealer and they did the tracking again which was apparently out. I also took the car to have wheel balancing done which also was way out. Both of these made it better but has never felt right. The ride is rough and the steering jerky at high speeds. I find if I go over even the slightest hole at speeds the car lurches in different directions. I also feel that even at 70mph I am still getting some steering judder and I don't feel confident in the car on motorways or on country roads. I should say that it does have 4 budget tyres on the car but they were newly fitted just before I bought the car. When I considered getting them changed to premium tyres as I thought this may be the cause of the problem the mechanic at the tyre garage thought I was wasting my time as he didn't think a change in tyre would fix my problems. I used to have a 52 plate mx5 and the drive was a dream. Wishing I hadn't got rid of it now. Any ideas of how I could fix this would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I fear I may have to sell! I am based in Glasgow btw. Thanks in advance
