  1. Odd..! Not had a chance to swap the wheels across yet, but yesterday when driving down the motroway, the rear right tyre pressure warning light came on. It didn't have a puncture..so continued on my way. The car drives like it is a bit unstable now..! Its almost as if when I make turn to the left or right (at speed), the back end is a 1/4 second behind it and 'follows it' causing a bit of instablility. Could it be a faulty shock absorber causing this (and the pull to the left)..? Something really weird going on!
  2. Yes - tyre pressures are the same. I'll try swapping them side to side too and see if that makes any difference.
  3. Hi Tony Many thanks for the reply. The two new tyres that were installed on the front (which I've now changed to the rear), are directional treads and so I can't swap them across. They don't have the radial band strip anymore (if they ever did?) as I've done about 1000 miles on them. The two front tyres are not directional, but having swapped the front to rears, do you still think it worthwhile to swap the fronts across the axis of the car? If I drive off ata very slow speed (10mph) the steering wheel will always 'default' to a slight turn to the left requiring me to hold it level to make the car drive straight. Best regards
  4. Thanks Viking...that's what I thought too, but it's funny how you can give someone a title such as 'Audi Master Tech' and you think they know what they are talking about...!
  5. "This statutory defence allows a council or highways agency to defend claims on the basis that they had taken reasonable measures to ensure that problems such as potholes are found and dealt with swiftly. All councils should have a reasonable system in place whereby they regularly inspect roads and repair them if necessary. Provided they have followed their system as they should, they may be able to reject your claim. However, if you can prove that they haven't, or that their system differs from the recommendations of the national recommended standards for highway maintenance, then you may be able to claim. "
  6. Hi guys - new to the forums having been recommended them by a mate. I'm pulling my hair out - maybe one of you guys can give me some advice please, and I've read countless threads already on the forums but I can't find one which specifically relates to my problem..! I have an Audi A5. Some uneven tyre wear and a slight pull to the left made me get an alignment done by a local garage when I had the tyres replaced. I know..! Big mistake! Never again! The pull to the left is still there. I then had an alignment on a Hunter system to get it done properly - back end was out a little, so they adjusted it and all parameters are now zero or well within tolerance. Their printer was/is broken, so I can't get the readout to post here. They told me the printer is being replaced ..'soon'. The pull to the left is still there. I then take the car to Audi to get their 'master tech' to have a drive. He says "All A4's and A5's pull to the left (!)", but he reckoned the steering wheel isn't set correctly (?). He said it should be taken off, rotated one cog on the steering spindle to the right and replaced. That should cure the problem but would also cost me about £200 labour..! A bit of a gamble as I can't see how that is going to fix things. He also thought it could also be the tyres that have been put on the front causing it. I therefore swap the front and rear wheels around. The pull to the left is still there. I now have no idea what to do. A hunter system says the car is running true, and Audi don't seems to have a solid idea. Help?! Ideas?! When I drive off, the steering wheel will almost immediately turn anti clockwise slightly by about 10 degrees and the result is the car drives (pulls) to the left. If I hold the wheel level, the car drives in a perfect straight line. How can Audi's idea of taking the steering wheel off and resetting it by one tooth clockwise solve this problem?! If anyone has any experience of something similar or any advice, I would really appreciate it as I'm in to approx £150 now and am nowhere closer to getting this resolved..! Many thanks in advance for any help. Mon
