Its really cheap while you're learning as your always supervised, a friend of mine fell in to that trap. Do a quote for the same car as if he had just passed his test and prepare yourself for a shock .. !

Becoming a Mistress Thatcher .. that's something you do in your spare time at the weekends, right?
I'll see myself out!

I can't insure the car after I don't own it, as then its for double cover, which could cause issues on its own.
I can't transfer it to the new car if I haven't got it yet, as that's the same issue then.
I don't want to cancel it as I'm still young (at heart anyway) and can't afford to lose almost a years no claims.

Does anyone know what the policies with insurers is for buying / selling cars? I have always transferred my insurance from my old car straight to my new one, but this time round there may be a week or two .. or three ... gap between me selling the old car and buying the new. I'm half way through an insurance term, so don't want to have to cancel and take out a new policy.
Anyone have any ideas of what I can do during that week or two?

A friend has an S60R with a few plastic panels under a few components on the underside - he once got an advisory for them being unable to view the entire underside because of the plastic panel that was there. The following year, keen to get a 100% clean sheet, he removed it ..
and got and advisory for ..
a missing cover.

Doesn't look like they are down - the shadow has a gap at the back of the trailer ... they're strapped on to the deck of the trailer ... but its America, you can't expect too much!

That's a tidy looking repair! Hopefully the other side won't go on your next flight!
Going to be doing some fibreglass (Well, really should be using Kevlar ... ) repairs to my Marblehead in the next few weeks, slight hull-deck leak where she's taken a bash a few years ago. Only an issue in high wind though, fortunately! The difficulty is the patch I want to put on needs to go in through a 2" square hole, and is a reasonably tight angle, barely inside the reach of fingers. Then its on with re-fairing both the keels, which have also taken some bumps and bangs along their life, but they are un-painted carbon fibre, so its going to be a bit harder to disguise any repairs, so I may just have to use clear epoxy with no filler or glass, and hope that it holds up under the small amount of flex.

Friend has similar setup - bit smaller HMD. FPV Kit?

I call for similar reasons, plus at 250mph++ you'd be hard pressed to see the drone. Plus, this person seems to think that aircraft are made of biscuits, and a small lightweight plastic (carbon fibre and a few cables really) drone would shatter a winglet like that ...

Surely you could just .. stay home and do it from a screen there? And a man with a van delivers it later?

Only 140-something KG. With 135k kp peak, weight isn't such an issue, drag will be - they'll be burning a tonne (literally 1T) of fuel in the course of the run after all
-
They need about 50KG a second of the propellant for the rocket .....
Plus for the rest of the run it powers all the electronics and hydraulics.

Yeah! I think at one point it was going to be an F1 engine. Obviously Jag have stumped up some more sponsorship money and an engine ... !
As for 1000mph .. very likely. Tens of thousands of hours wind tunnel testing, countless more virtually modeling airflows, drag, downforce, etc over every inch of the car ... I have a feeling we'll be seeing the record smashed soon. Its Power/weight is insane, so if they can keep it in a straight line, and on the ground ... it'll do it.

Possibly it was just a fluke where the snow and ice came down quicker than the gritters could get round? I'd have hoped somewhere like Canada would have been prepared for this kinda weather!
