    Sadly the Bilstein suspension is off, I found with the SPL metal bushings the ride became quite harsh and irritating. I found myself scanning the road constantly for drain covers, twigs, leaves and so on.

    It's simply due to the gassing they've chosen to pressurise their shocks with, meaning it takes more force to get them working, usually that's completely fine when you're on rubber bushings but not the metal ones.

    Great shocks but a bad combination I didn't consider.

     

    I'm now on Meister R GT1's (first in the UK on the Z), and these feel fantastic !
    There were plenty of options to go for, KW V3 were going to be my decision but I opted out for a couple of reasons.

    The GT1's have hugely reduced the harshness, and now of course I can dial up or down the rebound/compression quickly and easily for track fun.

  2. I got my one from your second link, kmsdirect.

    It's adjustable for height which is more useful, so I wouldn't bother with the table top style one.

    Feels sturdy enough, 6 ton would have been fine but I wasn't sure so more is best right ?
    The jack bottle has been leaking but it could have been trapped air so I did the normal jack 'bleeding' thing, and have some hydraulic oil to top it up at some point.

    So I ordered the shortest piece and asked them to cut it into 3 sections (they can't do smaller than 250mm total).

  3. I bought a 12 ton hydraulic press, and some various sockets (as well as the race seal kit), I also made a push/pull kit from some threaded rod + the sockets etc (but it would have been worth just buying a kit)
    12 ton press = £75-80
    6 ton press = £40-60 (the one you linked is on the expensive side for no reason)

    You can use something like this - but check the sizes first.

    I also bought some 3" pipe for exhaust (they cut it down to size) from ebay, and used that as a receiver.

  4. Good news and irritating news !

    Firstly, Joe is brilliant and very patient - top guy you have there  :thumbsup_anim: 
    Got the car up on the ramp and I said to him I'd noticed a knocking sound over speed bumps/rough surfaces, so I had been driving very carefully as I assumed it was a nut that wasn't tight.
    Unfortunately we were confronted with this AGAIN !

    So this now suggests that it's this particular monoball bushing that's at fault.
    (no hard driving at all)
    We took it out, and it dropped into the arm about 3/4 of the way then Joe pressed it in the rest. It's still holding up now and looks like this:

    So luckily he was able to continue with the geo this time  :lol:

    Obviously I've emailed SPL, hopefully they'll send out a new one and I can replace it and finally get a track day booked.
     

  5. I made a proper tit of myself - I flipping forgot to install the little black cone thing in the middle by the old arm which was causing the nut to spin...

    Joe was really helpful and understood (that I'm a plum), sorted out a quick temp fix until I got back home to sort it, thankfully no torn rubber boot on the new arm.

  6. Those cheap chinese arms often have that issue , we have some in stock we ordered to try but they are so poor we cant fit them to a customers car in good faith , you get what you pay for

    Sometimes this is certainly true, and sometimes it's not. 

    Bare with me here.

     

    I've seen some big changes in their manufacturing (copying) in just the last two years where before it certainly was junk, and now it's as good as X.

    However I guess from your point of view if you have customers, you can ALWAYS rely on original or company X to deliver a quality component rather than taking a calculated risk (I understand that).  :)

  7. You can always do things on a small budget but I wouldn't bother with this stuff, it'll get frustrating.
    It just depends how much of it you already have, and I'd not buy 'the best' stuff as it'll quickly get out dated. 

     

    Either way, it's looking great fun and trust me, once you've had a go with this stuff it'll blow yer pants off !

    I've just got to crawl under it and torque up one nut as it was clunky last night with weight transfer (was driving carefully back into town at 2am).
    I should have brought the old arm with me but it looked like it was slightly elongated in the hole, either way it's for the bin  :smile_anim:

  9. One or two generations in, these will be nice little gadgets to use.
    Some of the in-car racing stuff is really cool with 360 video:

     

     

     

    I'm really looking forward to trying a racing game with a VR head set.
    A good friend has been making an Oculus Rift VR game, so I've seen many iterations of the hardware over the last year or so, and it's hugely impressive. If you don't already have a decent gaming pc, you're going to want around £3-4k all in to spend, trust me  :smile_anim:

     

    (one step further but overall, just the VR set + PC is great)
