  1. Well I guess the two are linked, as its pulling in line with the steering, so I guess my main issue is the off centre steering wheel. If I 'let go' of the wheel, it doesn't centre correctly, it's visibly off to the left slightly. Is this something you could sort if I came down to WIM Tony? Thanks, Russ. There's something amiss if the steering position relaxes offline, i think this is a tyre issue! Before you even think of coming to me can you have the front wheels swapped side-to-side then test drive the car. Will do Tony, I'll get them swapped over tomorrow. Presumably it will pull right if it is the tyre? If it turns out that it is the tyre, how can I get this rectified please? Thanks for your time and help :shiftyeyes_anim: Russ.

  3. Right, I've had my Megane for 6 months, and about 2 months ago I started getting a very loud knocking noise from the front of my car. As it was under warranty, I took it to my local Renault dealer (Autoworld, Willenhall) for them to fix. They diagnosed the problem as being ARB links, which they changed, but the knocking noise was still there! However, my car now handled much worse than it did previously... not sure what they'd done! They advised that I get it booked into Renault Wolves, which I did the following day. Renault Wolves advised me that they had 'tightened up some stuff', and suggested that the knocking noise was a loose wheel!!! So, noise gone, new ARB links, terrible handling... I took it back a couple of days later to complain about the handling (most obvious was too much steering play, especially mid bend!). Their 'master tech' took it out for a 5 minute, 30MPH test drive and concluded that it was fine. I was basically called a liar, so after an hour complaining, the CS Area Manager agreed that I should go and get my car checked independently to assess what the issue was, and then go back to them to fix it. I took my car up to ABP in Crewe. They diagnosed the issue as being the steering rods at the 'rack end'. The NS wheel could be moved easily when jacked up. Renault have since replaced these, and setup the 'geometry' to the correct spec, at their bodyshop, Renault Wednesbury. However, since getting the car back from them, the steering wheel isn't centred properly and the car pulls obviously left (although this is true with the misaligned steering wheel!). I've taken it to two 'alignment' type places, both of who said they could fix it (£35 and £20!), yet I still have the same problem!! I'm loathed to take it back to Renault - their incompetence frustrates the hell out of me! So, what do I do please? Any advice? My car is under warranty until 27th Sept... I assume the steering issue can be resolved quite easily? Nobody near me seems to know what 'geometry' is, everyone quotes me £20 to fix it, but I know in reality nobody will be able to! My only other question, around the 'settings' is whether or not my car is the same as a normal Megane? Both places used generic 'Megane II' settings it seems. I just want my car to handle how it used to, before Renault touched it!! The only other point worth mentioning, is that I have Hnkook V12 Evo's all around, but the NS front tyre seemed to have failed somehow. Renault paid for a replacement, so now I have unevenly worn tyres on the front of my car. One is new, one has about 4mm. Would something this simple make my steering pull to the left so wildly? Thanks for reading!! Any help appreciated!! Thanks, Russ.
