  1. Great, will check them out when I get back to the car. Will also check runout in the wheel both inside and out just to be sure - strange that it happened with those wheels on the front with the old tyres and it happens again once new tyres are fitted Will update soon
  2. Excellent topic - so the green bands on the Toyo's (in the picture above) should be equal on each of the tyres supplied?
  3. Yes mate, you were right - I have noticed another problem which I think I have an answer for but cannot understand the answer, here goes... Geometry was set up last week with a trusted company however when I drove away, car was pulling left. Knowing the geometry was good, I then tested run out on brake discs, they were less than 0.1mm which is inside spec. Then changed the front wheels for the rears, tested the car and it drove perfect, straight with no pulling so I suspected tyre wear. I've had the new tyres fitted as the post above, I asked the fitters to put these on the front of the car and take the ones from the front and put them on the back (so the car was the same as before I moved anything away) and guess what, the car is pulling to the left again. I can only be left with wheel problem as I've eliminated the tyres. I'll move the new front tyres and wheels to the back and put the backs on the front again to see if it drives straight again, I suspect it will Radial runout would cause vibration, how could a wheel have excess lateral runout to make it pull to one side? Thanks in advance, hope the above makes sense
  4. I don't want to think how - but I can smell it from 20 feet away
  5. Hey Tony, you were right again... Fitted today and pulled into shape no problems - all is good apart from the tyres stinking of pi$$, they reek seriously
  6. Great, thanks man Ah yea, its been a long day Regardless of name, you will get my trade from now on!
  7. Thanks mate, good to know. I know mate, I cannot believe it - a few minutes ago I checked your main site and saw you are black hoops!!! I will have some more tyres coming up soon so now I know, you will get all my business as a way to say thanks I'm having these tyres fitted tomorrow, what is the state of liability if I get them fitted and there are still bulges in the tyre wall? Thanks matey
  8. Tony, Hi mate - thanks for your reply Is is pretty normal for tyres to be like this? Was pretty worried about the bulges in the tyre wall, was wondering what the potential for tyre wall damage was? Thanks again
  9. Hey, hoping for a little help please I ordered Toyo Proxies via mail order, they arrived today - I'm pretty concerned about them as they both look buggered. I've never done mail order tyres but heres the thing, it looks like they have been over fastened and have bent the rim of the tyre in two places and has pushed the tyre wall out Here some photos - fecked or will they come straight under pressure? thanks in advance Thanks
  10. Yea for sure - great result, can enjoy the car again now Thanks again
  11. Amazing result, thanks for your help. Took the car to the 'old boys' garage and explained the situation, they were very reluctant to do it as they were concerned that their equipment was old fashioned etc. Gave them the go ahead regardless They setup stud mount and balanced the fronts - I took it up to the dual carriageway and drove a significant speed, NO VIBRATION!!!! Old fashioned balancer vs. centre mount all singing all dancing dynamic balancer = old fashioned wins Priceless, will not touch another garage unless they use stud mount and will spread the word
  12. Awesome mate, better to ask Will update on what happens next
  13. Thanks for the reply - stupid question of the day coming right up The alloys are the standard alloys - how do I know if they are zero offset please?
  14. Tony, one more question. I've booked into a Pug dealer who has confirmed they use stud mount - would you insist on balancing on the inner and outer rim? Thanks mate
  15. Just spoke to main dealer - they also balance them from the centre so will avoid them... Time to look up the french garages
  16. OUCH! If Vauxhall dont sort it - I may take the 3.5 hour drive to see you guys. Will update tomorrow. Thanks Tony
  17. Hi Tony, Ah man, they balanced them in the centre of the wheel - will explain it. At 80mph with small vibes through the steering, what weight would you expect a wheel to be out by - 5-10g? Thanks my friend, I'll be taking this to Vauxhall main dealer - they have the correct fitment plates
  18. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I think I've seen these, a black rubber wheel bolted on each drive shaft. Had not thought of that, will get manufacture spec and reference against it Great suggestion - any more
  19. Hi - I so wish I was closer to you guys, followed many of your posts on the Vauxhall forums My 2001 Vectra B has 61k - bought it recently. Steering wheel was off centre and vibrations from around 60mph so I got a full geometry setup and all wheels balanced on inner/outer rim. I did see the machine produce 0-0 when balancing I now have a vibrating steering wheel at 78-82mph. Checked over suspension etc, all has no play so I'm guessing as its so high in mph that its still slight balancing You guys are clearly the experts in what seems like a completely murky world - are they any hints/tips that you could help me with on resolving this? Thanks in advance
