I remember a while back, Tony explained what the pretty coloured lines where for on a tyre when they where new.
I recently purchased some tyres (faken ZE912's) and none of the 4 have these lines on them. Is there any reason why they have not been put on.. or is it only a select few that do ?
Because the Falken ze912 is an assymetrical tyre, it can only be fitted one way, so i guess the manufacturers thought it'd be a waste of time printing run out lines on them!

The comment underneath makes me laugh!
"Can you spot the significant safety failing in this video?
That's correct. The hard hat has not been secured by a chin strap."

If you're jacking the car up to swap the tyres side to side, you may aswell check the bearing while its up! Release the handbrake and spin the wheel, if you get a grinding noise when you do this, or if theres any unusual play in the wheel, it a bearing, if not it'll be the tyres and a bad toe angle

As far as fittment goes, the only thing that matters in an MOT is the inch of the rim against the tyre. Stretching tyres is perfectly legal! That guy should appeal against his fail!

If your front hub flange is distored this could transfer through to the discs and cause a vibration (e.g this is common on the lexus is200), also the compliance bush on either of the lower arms can cause a problem if worn. It will need the suspension checked and if no fault is found, a disc run out tool will check if the hub is warped.
If your front bearings have been changed theres a possibility the hub may have been bent while pressing them out!
Hope that helps!

Sounds like a distoreted disc to me. Any ABS faults and a warning light would come up.

The Toyo T1R or the Vredstein Hi-Trac would be the best option if you were looking for a high performance tyre in that size. They also both have a very good directoinal tread pattern so the water dispersing properties are brilliant.
The Avon, Dunlop and Goodyear are better suited to casual road use.
Hope thats narrowed it down!

The driving standards agency recomend you change a tyre a 3mm instead of the legal limit of 1.6 . So you'll be better off changing the pair! Though if you do just decide to change the one, all vehicles behave differently with odd tyres on an axle
