  1. Just thought I would show a few pics of some of my current cars!

Not enough frequent progress to put it in the blogs bit.

Blue Mustang pictured in the pits at Oulton on an Open pitlane day. Very interesting as I only had good brakes for 4 laps! Entering the pitlane at 20mph we passed most of the garages even with the brakes full on, very smoky. Car was written off 4 years ago when it "fell off" a motorway slip road. It will now donate its vital organs to the black/orange/primered model in the pics, eventually.

Dutton is Rover v8 but still lots to do. Te Mustang was never supposed to be a project!!!

    There is also a Triumph Dolomite 1300tc and a 1964 Cortina MK1

  2. I find usually that the model code will be on the gas struts of the boot lid for most BMW models. Bonnet struts fit more ie saloon, coupe, estate and will be marked with all 3 variants, but boot ones seem unique. Lettering is large as well!

What, those in the boot well?

The short gas struts that are near the hinges!!

    These things.

I see..... But don't see the relevance of these to the thread?

I know i go on and on about them but why do they make it sooooo complicated?

"We have a BMW 7 series, finally we concluded it was an E38"

    E 38 will be on the struts....easy.

    Just trying to help!

  3. Nice..... i liked the chap in the red T-shirt giving the car a full "kick the tyre mot"

Loved the link but remember only legal, law abiding links will be allowed :)

    All filmed on private land!

The car did drive home like that, no trailer round the corner.

  5. the pics dont show just how much camber this has, straight away you could see it wasnt quite right

You saw this today and i think you will agree the rear looks like it's "kneeling down"..... I only wish i knew why?

We have had a couple of these where the shoulder that the adjuster butts against has been previously been damaged and the cam then rides over it and is not positively located. We welded small thick replacements and had no further problem.

  6. Welcome to wim

Another tool is to check Hunter or Supertrackers web sites since they sell training DVD's for Geometry calibration complimenting kinematics.... Heads up though, go for the advanced level the others are pre-school.

Thanks for the advise, will investigate further. Good to talk to you the other day, Tony, re Geo's up north!

  7. Hi

Can anyone recommend any good books on wheel alignment/ suspension geometry theory. I am interested in finding out the effects of caster, camber, toe changes and the effects on handling, also anti roll bar effects (ie thinner or thicker bars front and rear, and uprating or downrating each one)?

    Thanks in advance.
