  1. Thanks for the prompt reply Tony! It's no bother really - I've put my name down for one of the MX-5 'club geometry days' arranged by my favourite MX-5 forum (MX5Nutz) and I'll change the shocks and springs over the day before. The only bummer is having to wait until May (the sessions in Feb and March are already full). This way I can raise the ride height a few millimeters and have an easier time over speed bumps.
  2. Tony set the geometry on my Mk1 MX-5 BBR Turbo about 2,000 miles ago and the car felt fantastic - thanks Tony! But I'm regretting my choice of shocks prior to the geometry setup, they don't have very good rebound damping characteristics which makes the car feel a bit shakey and unsure over rough roads. I've sourced a set of Gaz shocks and springs which are supposed to be much better than the parts I've currently got fitted. The Gaz shocks have adjustable spring perches so I can set the ride height to match the ride height I've got on my old shocks and springs. If I do this and take particular care to make sure the ride height doesn't change, will I need the geometry to be set again?
  3. To hit a time that suits you three days notice is advised..... Good luck with the Mot Cheers Doc! You'll be hearing from me soon if all goes well....
  4. I've read an opinion on an MX-5 forums that a geometry setup isn't as effective if the bushes on the suspension are very worn. I wondered if Tony has an opinion on this? Mk1 MX5s are now between 10 and 19 years old, so most will have either very old bushes, or will have been fitted with new, probably poly bushes. I wonder how many of the MX5s that Tony sees have had the bushes replaced? On my car (a 1991 MX-5 turbo) the original bushes look like 17 year old bushes, the ARB bushes in particular look pretty tired. I might change some of the bushes at some point this year. I'm pretty sure changing the ARB bushes for e.g. polyurethane wouldn't affect the geometry setup, but I expect changing the bushes on the wishbones would.... Mind you, my wishbone bushes don't look half as bad as the ARB ones, so I'm not sure I'll bother with those just yet.
  5. Hi Tony, Subject to my car passing it's MoT tomorrow I'd like to get the geometry sorted before June 3rd, I could take an afternoon off work during the week I suppose. Also I sometimes work near Reading, which isn't so far from you. How much notice would you need for a midweek afternoon booking? My schedule is reasonably flexible, I could move jobs around a bit and could potentially do most Tuesday, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
  6. Hi everyone, My favourite toy is my Mazda MX-5 BBR Turbo which since buying I have fitted Eibach springs and KYB shocks to, and the car now sits a bit lower than before. Also it's 17 years old so I've decided a proper 4-wheel laser alignment is in order; I live in Brighton so although I'd like to do as the MX-5 Owners club recommend and take my car to Tony, Chesham is quite a long way from me and if I can get a good job done locally, that'd make sense.... I think. Actually I'm not sure, maybe that drive would be worth it (also I work and I don't know whether Chesham is open on Saturdays....?) I googled "laser wheel alignment Sussex" and found this place - http://www.1stclassgarage.co.uk/wheel-alignment.html Anyone know anything about it? Like if they know what they're doing.....? Andrew
