  1. You were lucky there Rich with them falling, mind this is the first car that I've had do this. Have to say everything was cleaned thoroughly and all bolts torqued up according to Hondas specifications etc. so as you say not a lot more I can do really, at the moment the brakes are good and no pulsations even at high speed, as I say at the moment!!LOL so all must be ok I'm thinking otherwise surely I would be experiencing brake pulsations/ judder?

    Cheers Pete

  2. Didn't have access to any heat, hence the block of wood and 4lb club hammer!! so do you think the hub bearings would be ok? all does feel solid there I have to say, just that possible imaginary wheel wobble, trouble I find is once doing some work like that Thoughts are ' was that doing that before'!! what a state to get into eh!! LOL

    Cheers Pete

  3. Guys, changed front discs and pads on my 2006 Honda accord the other day, easy job apart from getting the discs off the hub , had to spray loads of plus gas in there and ended up using a block of wood to and a 4lb club hammer to bang them off , question is would this have done any damage to the hub/ bearings do you think?

Might be my imagination as I'm really looking for it !! paranoia setting in I think!!LOL but it seems there is a very very slight shake in the steering now at high speed 70 mph + barely noticeable really and may well have been there before, does this often happen for a while after having fitted new discs and pads?

  4. That is true Rich, you'll have to let us know what happens mate, other thing I do find a bit annoying with these auto boxes is the fifth gear lock-up (bit like an overdrive) in that it changes up into that far to early when driving say along A roads in traffic e.g. mine seems to change into it at around 40-45mph and the revs are sitting at about 1.5k almost feels like the engine is labouring, Honda probably designed it this way so as to get into top gear asap, for economy / lower emissions etc, would be great to have this re-programmed.

    Cheers Pete

  5. Is yours the tiptronic box?

I did the fluid (twice) and filter a couple of 1000 miles ago with genuine oil (I won't use anything else in the gearbox) and it's at the correct level so that's ok. The jolt only happens if I try to accelerate too quickly when I first pull away, if I take it easy it's not too bad, even better since I've been waiting a minute or 2 after I first start the car.

if you're referring to sequential in that being able to operate it manually with the gear lever pushed over then yes it is mate, that is a bugger if you've changed the fluid, I don't get this jolt from 1st to 2nd at all , but what I do get is when the box has just changed down into 2nd at that point  I put my foot down it will tend to jolt at that point where I think it has changed to first and probably too much initial torque for the box to cope with!!LOL seems that whenever I'm trying to monitor what it's doing half the time I'm never sure if it's in 2nd or 3rd , not having had an auto for a few  years I'd forgotten how much of a pain they can be!!

  6. My Accord is the 2.0 auto, possibly same gearbox and this also hangs on 1st gear longer when cold and is normal behaviour (help warm the Cat up quicker along with the emissions etc.)  what shouldn't happen is a jolt from 1st to 2nd, maybe worth getting the transmission fluid replaced and at the correct level and ensuring it's the genuine Honda stuff , it appears the Honda boxes are quite sensitive to what brand of fluid is used and  can behave oddly if other brands e.g. the likes of Dextron are used.

  7. Nothing is done without supervision or QC ( quality control ) whoever is doing the work, myself included. As you know Pete our audience is national and Internet visible meaning we have one chance to get it right, no if's no but's just right.

Absolutely Tony , this is exactly why I use WIM

  8. Guys, any experience  of BCT s600 tyres ?  got a bit of steering wheel shake going on around  65-80mph, dealer fitted these on prior to purchasing the car, seem to have reasonable grip, but suspect these probably suffer a bit with balancing etc. being a cheap tyre!! cars going into WIM on Saturday anyway for alignment and wheel balance so hopefully the guys will be able sort the issues  out, just thought I'd get your thoughts on these tyres.

    Cheers Pete

  9. They do look good on the car mate, funnily enough I pick up an 06 accord same colour tomorrow and has the same wheels as your originals, off topic slightly but see yours have door bump strips did you get these fitted as the one I'm buying doesn't have them. Also seems as though the paint is  grey pearlescent, funny thing is looked at the log book for the car when I checked the car out last weekend and states it as being Silver!! which rang alarm bells and then double checked VIN etc and all ties up apart from this silver business!!LOL

    Cheers Pete

  10. Old cruiser.

The accord was built in japan, and unfortunately they decided to save some money by not putting as much grease on all the bolts as they should have done.

I would wait until your about to take your car in for a full service, then whip all the bolts out 1 at a time and give it a good douse of coppa slip.this will make sure everything stays free whilst you own the car :).

Thanks for the heads up mate

  11. I would question 20mph in my professional opinion... The inertia/ momentum/ suspension transition and bushing compliance could be damaged and/ or severely compromised at that speed. 5mph would be more like it, at a push 10mph but even then i would be worried.

What they seem to miss is on such a short hump these are vertical potholes, no less damaging as a normal pothole we so splendidly pay our road tax on..

Posed the 20mph question and suspension compliance etc  at this speed to them yesterday  and surprise surprise no reply.

  12. Just had response back from council  and here it is :

'The correct speed would be a speed that is not exceeding the speed limit that has been set'

So as this road is now at 20mph, in effect it would be ok to drive over these at 20mph, yeah right !! my car wouldn't last 5 secs doing that.!!

    Bloody council Grrrrr................

    Cheers Pete
