Tony, just a question here (to cover your ass), but did anyone get a structural engineers (preferably the ones that designed the building) approval to remove that wind brace?
I hope someone did, as it is a integral structural item, and the building warranty would be null and void if written approval was not sought.

Blimey Paul, fancy seeing you on here!!
Oh tell
One of the original members on MEG!
In fact, he's member Number 10 out of 20196!

Yeah, I guess they must be the stock settings.
Does it read sensible? (Or am I showing my ignorance )

Tony, on another forum I run, (I like to keep myself occupied!), one of my moderators has posted up his wheel alignment angles.
http://www.stdrivers.co.uk/forum/showtopic.../last/m/1/#LAST
FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT (at curb weight)
Nominal Caster angle = 3.32deg (+/- 1.0deg)
Nominal Camber angle = -0.88deg (+/- 1.25deg)
Total toe = 0.20deg Toe-in (+/- 0.15deg)
REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT (at curb weight)
Nominal Camber angle = -1.79deg (+/- 1.25deg)
Total toe = 0.56deg Toe-in (+/- 0.15deg)
NOTE: All angles given in decimal degrees.
Just wondering if they are correct?

Good idea Tony. Thats what I've got on my site, a 'Workshop'. People submit articles, they get reviewed and then submitted to the workshop.

The mr2 is NOT a drift car and he WILL hurt himself and others.
I disagree!
The previous owner before me used my MR2 as quite a successful drift-car!
It was certainly set-up for Drift.. how did you find the drive before you came to wim?
I couldn't say to be honest Tony, I never really had a chance to use it / try it out. It felt unstable at speed, I remember that much, the front was very jittery.

The car is now back in the body shop having a few scratches taken care of. I'm also still awaiting finding a decent place to finish off my 3" exhaust system. Then I'll be dropping it off again at TDI for mapping and some other minor issues plus a geometry set up.
Then it 'should' emerge as the fastest IS 200 with standard engine (other than uprated internals etc) in the UK if not Europe!!!
With the other projects going ahead... this will be a VERY interesting year
Why not use TDI for the exhaust system?
Also, what is it about tuning IS200s? People seem to throw crazy money into them for very little reward. If I can ask, what power do you hope to be running at what cost?
It's all about pushing the boundaries jon
Adie's car in particular has been quite an on-going project (not without it's problems) and thanks to people like him, we know the IS200 engine can only take around 270bhp before exploding

Thank you Mark... Maybe we can team up at one of the events so you can fill me in on all the regulations and so on.
No problem if you want a trip up to Leeds, i can arrange to meet up with people and show everyone the way there.
Bugger, was just about to ask if this was down south, as it's something i'm intrested in. Bit faaaaaaaaaaaar for me though!

My trackday season will start in March!
A friend of mive across the road also has an MR2 Turbo, so we'll be tracking most of the season together.
Am planning to do one a month, but like all best laid plans, they go out the window!
-
If it makes you feel better Baz, I don't even know what one of them is
-
Your asking the wrong person really as this is just what makes logical sense to me....
but!
the larger the contact patch (which you will get with wider tyres) will mean a harder turn whilst stationary.
I might be wrong, but I might be right
-
Just wondering if the width of the tyres can affect how heavy the steering feels? I have gone from 195 to 205 and mine feels slightly heavier, although I can't remember if it was any lighter with the 195!
At speed or whilst stationary?
They *should* feel heavier theoretically as there is more rubber, hence more weight... (unless you have reduced your profile, then I haven't a clue how they interact!)

Afflicts all MK1 and MK2 Mondeos...
I guess the design has changed on the MK3, I haven't looked underneath one though to check.
BTW, Hello Essex_Racer, it is I, Monkeyra
I think the design must have changed for the MK3.
Monkeyra what's your view on reverting the bolt?
Can't remember on what the consensus was TBH... There was a big thread on MEG about it a while back (we're talking a good few years ago I think)
I think when people changed it themselves, the reverted the bolt, along with some threadlock... which tbh, on a nylock bolt (new) should be fine.
Put it this way, on MEG so far, I can only recall one instance of the bolt falling out. (Thats over the past 7 years!)

You certainly keep yourself busy mate!
And people think i sleep "pah" ..... In truth Nick busy is good and examples like this one from MEG i take hold of untill the bitter end, i spoke to him yesterday trying to conclude the reasons behind the problem but i am stumped? hence the extended sharing of problems here... Personally i feel the criminal is the rear wishbone bushings and the frequency between the play and the suspension coils.... there is a void between the two.
Lol, just had a quick look in your forum (I don't read 1/10 of the stuff that gets posted on my site ) and I see Totalguy is even on your side
I'll be following this problem with interest (I want to see if the MK3 is afflicted with the subframe problem like the MK1 and MK2).
Ready for some insider information?.... In view of the fact i have the 10hr work day then all the distressed emails then the forums then the wim forum i need help, so i contacted Totalguy in MEG because he fought me every step i took reading knowledgeable within my field so we had a pm session resulting in him supporting wim in my absence (top respect to him) Like you i cannot be everywhere so we need our allies...
Tonight i spoke to the Mondeo owner (hello Glen) and we have concluded that the rear cross-member bushings need checking, Glen has agreed and will keep us apprised.
Wow, thats good news for you! I was wondering what had caused his turn of faith!
I'm glad it's working out for you! I wish I could find more knowledgeable experts to cover other fields on my site. They are far and few between

Tony,
I know that on the MK1 and MK2 Mondeos, the front subframe has to be dropped to replace the clutch. If it doesn't go back together perfectly, then it'll pull to one side. My MK1 Mondeo still does it to this day.
WIM MEG, I like the name

Whilst on the subject of droplinks, I think this is what is causing the front end of my lexus to knock on speed humps, and also when reversing into a parking space and applying the brakes?
correct or not?
Has only started in the past two months or so.
-
Matt, what came first? White or blue? I thought it was the white?

Mike, if you wanna meet up for beers in Londinium, let me know

Are you hoping to be open this month Tony?
I've got pretty much the entire month off work, so I'm hoping to bring my MR2 over to get some bits and bobs done.
