  1. Looks great Tango

Hasn't this engine already been turbo/supercharged in Japan already :) ?

It's been supercharged by Blitz (possibly in the US) and Tom's in Japan. Not had a turbo or Rotrex S/C fitted as far as I know. Some doubt on the S/C fitment due to the perceived strength of the aluminum alloy block and the complexity of the injection systems. Guess Prolex will find out one way or the other.

Still running well at .4 bar............

  2. or lack of power :D

Oh dear Msr Prolex...........tut tut tut i was there and looking forward to putting mine on the RR i think 380 bhp (std) without any japanese mods or chinese copies of parts is enough dont you

    or lack of power

Lack of power? I was there too and mine's putting out 333 bhp at the wheels (417 bhp at the fly) as standard, ..... that's without a supercharger

@ scorps............380 bhp from over 5 litres against 370 from 3.5 litres F/I or even 306 N/A nuff said and its Japanese engineering not cheap chinese copies....funnily enough makes me wonder why you were even going to attend as detroit is more than a few miles from Tokyo when I last looked at the map..........

@ terry...........my Santa Pod 0-60 print out shows 4.9 for 0-60 not sure what the IS-F time is..........its about torque old boy my IS350 (only one in Europe BTW) I'm told has more lower down than the more common IS-F........also have a GPS verified top speed of 172 mph which is somewhat quicker that the common IS-F

    Have a wonderful evening.............

  3. Car went very well with a final time of 120.49 which left me 14th out of 31 overall and 5 seconds faster than a hayabusa powered Dax Rush which surprised me.

Think I could have gone even better if I’d have had better brakes………….

Video footage is of a 121.79 lap where I was experimenting with different lines/techniques as you can see the surface was interesting

  4. 96/97 super coupe car it wasn't competitive,as it was an ex LHD road car, converted to track, parts were drying up at Rover motorsport at Oxford... and i was still novice(poop), till end of season, coupled with travelling costs back to uk, and a 6 month stint in bosnia. tried to use the car in ADAC saloon, but couldnt get homologation, car was stripped in 2001/2, and sold to 2 drivers in the UK, lots of the stuff went to an ex member on LOC..who was admin of honda revolutions, they took the engine and wheels, and the shell was sold to a guy in Holland, who, i believe built it back up and uses it in holland........the engine oil cooler was used on the original drift car, and now used on the monster as the power steering cooler

    repaint_1_001.jpg

was going to get a Coupe, to use, in super coupe cup, with the vento vr6, gti, honda crx, but got the Black lexus.....and realised my dreams of a saloon racer went down the pan, as i was going to be staying in germany , then...i got hooked on trying to build the lexus for something.....

was steve's uncle in the GTI cup, or super coupe cup, the gti cup, which used the rover gti amalgamated with the vento cup, rover coupe cup, honda crx and clio cup in 97,basically drawing the sub 2 liter and 2 litre saloon and coupes together in a new seris run by BRSCC and i think is still running today, albeit with a very much reduced grid now as the cars are getting old

wow what year 6r4...love em, there was one for sale on piston heads a short while back

so you actually raced this ?

when you were part of prolex you told me you never raced it just did some practice events............

  5. why does it have to be jap.....

maestro 2.0 mg, infact you could get a maestro turbo for a little more than 1k

rover coupe, make great track cars, again go for the 2.0 l...infact

i can personally vouch for the rover 216gti...as a very good track machine....i raced them for a few years

the coupe and gti are japanese cars....the gti even has the honda engine, but there both just badged as Rovers

for old japanese metal you will pay considerably more

    trust me

    Raced them ????

Not what you told me Matthew...............never got to race just did a 1 or 2 practice sessions................

Best not to mislead peoiple ;)

  6. the issue with lock angle was brought to the fore, in that the car wanted to atain more angle, but lock was cut short by the stops, meaning at lock point the rear was trying to overtake the front, meaning, backing of on power to bring the car back within steering angle.

regards the front being to soft, this is the feedback from Rich, and his spotters in the crowd, i have a stiffer Cusco anti roll bar we can try on the front, before looking at upping the Kg/mm of the front springs

i will get Rich to do a detailed write up ....and his feedback

    studying the pics.......

i see what your saying about saturation, the problem we have is it is a static image, the weight transfer is what was mostly commented on by Rich, and that is where he says the car feels soft on the front, maybe the progressive nature of the spring is fine, under constant load, but not on the transition and sudden load, unload.

a higher kg/mm progressive spring should solve the issue

You need those C-One quick steering knuckle thingtmagigs.............. :)

  7. Project Vitz

Have bought a ½ share in a Toyoya Vitz with bazza.......(Yaris in Europe) that has been used in the TRD NETZ series in japan.

    Car is a 2004 3 door 1 litre car weighs 3 kgs.............

Comes with TRD roll cage, TRD 1.5 way LSD,TRD suspension,TRD Rev counter, uprated alloys………no interior to speak of.

Car will be used by Jane Newsome (janey) Kamelia Ellen (Mrs prolex-UK) and myself if I’m allowed…………….

Aim will be to get it checked over on arrival,ESVA’d,serviced then fit a few

  8. Teeside report

Travelled up to Middlesborough for the lastest round of the Toyota Sprint Series on the Friday. Nice uneventful trip up.

Saturday sampled the delights of Middlesborough’s shopping attractions before heading of the the Teeside autodrome for the event. It was to run from 4pm to 10pm .

Stickers attached without drama, scrutineering then out for the practice stuff and a look at the track…..

From the incar footage you will see how undulating the first section is with a blind negative camber section to concentrate the mind.

Did a 54.71 on my second timed lap but the heavens opened for the 3rd session and the track remained damp for the next 4 runs run 7 was a good one felt just right but unfortunately I had to slow down due to a spinning MR2 Turbo who then stalled which meant I had to do another one which was pant ! the final run was my fastest at 54.28 which left me 6th in Class and 10th overall which I’m quite chuffed with.

Barrie did well again in the Tartlet winning his class for the second time in a row.......

  9. Silverstone TA report

Another good day so the TOM’s IS350 compressor lop 6 seconds off last years time (in the Aristo V300).

Final time was 1.16.406 which was still off the pace but I’m 100/250 bhp off most other cars as well as having standard suspension and running fully trimmed (my choice)

    Some pics and video below

As ever thanks to kami for letting me risk my daily driver…….Chris & Mark from LOC for pit help during the day.

Some video of the final part of my qualifying run. I’d come in after 6 minutes as the Toyos R888’s had gone off resulting in a sideways moment. Think this was when I did my fastest lap

will post more pics as and when they are ready.

I’m not at TA at Oulton Park as I’m at the Lexus Owners Club Euro meet in germany……..with a day at the Nurburgring then 3 days in Paris………..my next one is Brands Hatch
