  1. Days are done at Silverstone (Driftworks) & at Santa Pod, Drift Academy do days at a lot of tracks...will go have a check for you and get some links :sad01_anim:

    Driftworks events page here http://www.driftworks.com/forum/other-news-events/

theres lots going on, I'd say best one is probably Lex's one at Santa Pod - as you will get free tuition from the guys who are happy to jump in and help out.

Drift Academy is here http://www.driftacademy.co.uk/index2.html - dearer than above (site seems a bit out of date at the mo) but have more places - maybe worth a mail.

  2. That's a lot of tyre for a 5 :speak_cool: Is this a daily drive or a show car?

Geometrically i'm not worried about the rears.... But there is concern with the fronts regarding the position of the scrub radius... My new software (installed tomorrow) can help me calculate the best set up and since the 5 has such a good adjustment range we should be fine..... There maybe a little compromise here and there but modifications are not always without consequence.

Its a daily drive ;) Although bodily its pretty majorly modified already & by the time all the work is done (new body kit etc) it will look even more like a show car.

There are some 'bubble' arches going on and the existing inner & outer arches will be modified to fit the wheels in/under and the spacers will be used if neccessary if there is still need for more room.

  3. sorry to butt in... but 225 on 10j !!!

I've got 225 on 8J and they are stretched on...

my rears have 245 on 8J and fit perfect..

    Sorry my mess...they are 255/40 :P

    Will edit

Originally they had on: Rears: 245/35/17 and Fronts: 225/45/16.

  4. Right...a good friend will soon be putting some new wheels on his 5.

So I thought I'd get your brain working in preperation  I know 5's are 'geo friendly' but would be interesting to know how 'friendly' when faced with an extreme :P

The wheels are 4x100 as NA fitment.

The arches are going to be modified to be able to fit under them:

    fronts - 9x16

    rears - 10x17

both with 15mm offset and optional (if needed) 9.5mm spacers

    front tyres are 225/50/16

    rear tyres are 255/40/17

I'm just wondering how easy it is going to be to recover any settings, and what effect having these sizes on it is going to make considering the usual max size people have gone to is 8x16/17

  5. Dont forget to wear your new overalls....er sorry workshop suits :)

I will never, ever, ever, ever wear overalls again, they look horrible and every time you raise your arms above your head you end up seriously separating the twins, if you know what i mean :)

    :) :)

I think you & Mark should have pale blue shirts with little logos on like the guy in the video ....and of course keep them nice & clean all day like he does :)

  6. Take the trip it will be worth it...

WIM centre will be open 6 days a week 7 days once a month (Tony will correct me if im wrong). :)

Definately worth taking the trip as Tony really knows his 5's - 'Amazed' (Adam) who is on the OC & SERoadsters lives in Brighton but makes the trip up as he says its definately worth it for the peace of mind

  7. Just to reiterate what Barrie said :D

Thanks so much to Tony & Mark for sorting Poggys 'pidgeon toes' he felt way more 'planted' on the drive home :bigeyed: Great to see you both & Pete again.

Very impressed with the centre and the excellent tea & coffee making facilities, & I can't wait to see the magic tyre machine in action :D

  8. Disaster..... The installers of the mezzanaine what a week to fit the flooring :P "A WEEK!"....

Since the shutter doors won't be installed for a few weeks this means i cannot have the Geo ramp built because this entrance is needed for the flooring........ I despair!

    A week !! thats ridiculous :P

  9. look's pretty darn good :whistling: who did it then ;)

was certainlly a hard day's graft.look's pukka :) shame it took me 4 hour's to get home that night though B) sat at redbourne for an hour tryin to get on the M1 :D

Nice job Jammy  although I'm sure it must have been Tony's shopstewarding role that made it be such a great job :D

  10. Well I always avoid roads with speed bumps ( the 5 used to take the tops off them & Poggy's front skirt scrapes on them) I don't bump up pavements (well not since I've not had an old company car)

But.....how the hell do I avoid potholes - they are everywhere !! driving anywhere round our way is like going out on an assault course

  11. Excellent turn out :o

Not sure I've ever seen that many 5's in one place apart from JAE ;)

My daughter wants to know how many of them were hairdressers?

She is keen on the MR2. She and her husband have had all three versions and are concerned that Toyota seem to have no plans for a new sports car for the UK. In consequence she may have to look at an MX5 but is concerned about its "image".

:o I don't think they will ever shake off the 'hairdressers car' tag :P Weird thing is that the majority are actually owned by blokes who aren't even hairdressers.

The 5 is a popular great fun car with loads of scope for tweeking if you want to, even if the Mk3 does need lowering a foot before it looks good you have access to a great handling (if Tony sets it up) car.

Best bet is for them to go & have a look on the MX5 OC http://www.mx5ocforum.co.uk/ & the Toyota OC http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/ read about the 2 and see the communities and what they all say

TBH although the 5 is great, I'd rather have a MR2 Roadster if I had to choose between the two (waits for the brick throwing to commence)
