  1. Hi Tony

Thanks for the information. I was booked in a couple of months ago regarding this noise and the young lad that checked it out for me didn’t make any reference to bushings. If he had I would have asked him to remove the joints and copper grease for me to see if this would have solved the problem.

So I assume that you are talking about the bushings that come with the Gaz Coilover?

Also, take into account at the time of fitting late last year; my car had only covered 19,000 miles creak/squeak free.

If it is simply a case of copper creasing then any chance you can book me in on a Saturday to service the unit?

Regarding the two ‘MOUSE-LIKE’ squeaks from the front end that I get every time I go over a bump in the road, again this has only been since I had the Gaz fitted; I would leave it to your recommendation as to what to do about these when I visit.

    link to soundbite.

this is just a brief clip, there is some exhuast noise but you should be able to here the creak and the odd squeak.

  2. Well i suppose i am sort of sorry to here this news , but consider

ing i have had nothing but constant creak and squeak's coming from 3 of the coil-over units since fitted , i am not that bothered.

So Tony looks like i am going to pay you another visit to see if

these can be in someway cured not sure what you are going to do tho

    ugh ?

I have made a recording of one of the problem shocks and i will tr

y to post this later on today ( at work at the min hence the time of this post ).

  3. Yes they are "handed" so it looks like they have put on the incorrect sides.

So factor in Mazda's fabled weak droplinks and also that they were second hand to start i would have thought that they would have been fitted with the least amount of stress as possible ?

Would you agree or am i up the wrong tree ? (Again ). ;)

  4. I have got a new set of aftermarket mx5 droplinks ready to go on,what i need to know is do i put them on as they are in the pics or do they need to be more vertical reason is they just don't look right to me ?

I know my old Wim ones were more vertical so do these follow suit ?

  5. 10mm would be fine, if you need to go more then i will re-do the geo for you.

Ok Tony I hope this makes sense or I am back to square one. The two rear coilovers were set to show 13 threads counting from the bottom of the damper –upwards, with the car jacked up there was no play in the springs so I have wound down the lock and perch nut to show 10 threads now with the car jacked up there is a slight bit of play in the springs but not too much so that they can be moved easily.

Took the car for a test drive and no creak not one bit I had a Twang or two at slow speed over some speed humps but I suppose that was to be expected having just done the adjustment.

The noise was getting so bad it could be heard over the engine/exhaust and I even resorted to playing the radio something which I never do. :D

So mate does this sound about right or is it a precursor of more earache to come.

    :D :D

  6. My Mx sits about 115 mm from sill to ground can i higher the car

about 5-10mm before it affects the Geo or am i ok, reason is i not only h

ave the creaking bed spring noise from the rear offside but also seem to

have collected two field mice type squeaks coming from the front end

so i was thinking by highering slightly it would put the shock rods

in a higher position then see if its better or not and perhaps sol

    ving the problem

    any ideas ?

  7. I suppose its a sort of a result as far as the drop link V anti-roll bar goes in as much we now know the reason behind the problemÂ

     know.

So i suppose it is a case of taking the plunge and getting them fr

om the states or just buy a set or two of OEM ones and keep as ba

    ckup.

Still it was a nice drive down and back good to see the main man

    looking a bit better.

    ;)

  8. Use the one intended for the poly's, this will not degrade the rubber.

The nut and rubber sit on the top of the shock in the boot ,can i just undo the nut and lube with all 4 wheels on the groundnor do i have to lift up the car and support the hub with a jack ? As its my first attempt at anything like this !!!

  9. My MX has developed a nasty sqweak i think from the top nut and rubber mount on the rear off side shock, is it OK to use a lube on the rubber like the stuff i would lubeÂ

poly bushes with or is there something else i can use ?
