  1. The front is a mac Strut , with a tension strut going forward at a shallow angle , so castor is adjustable with that . Dad's rally car is blooming hard on front tyres , with the same compound front and rear , it seems to eat the fronts off faster than the rear . Plus the steering effort is quite high . The rack isn't very fast , and it's also new .
  2. because I'm in Ireland I'll be doing it myself.. but with Tony's watchful guidance!
  3. Okay I could be the one wrong so , maybe not trailing arm then . Actually , it's located with a lower wishbone , a toe control link and definitely is a Mac strut . Sorry for the misinformation previous! No prob! They're bloody rare , only 400 made , so not many have likely been in the WIM workshop! lol
  4. Excuse my stupidity , but I have a nasty habit of needing to be spoon fed... do you mean long as in the more caster , the better?
  5. Where can I get those camber adjusters?
  6. Actually , no the rear is NOT live axle . The ordinary 131s were , but the Abarths were all independant , semi trailing arm with CV joints each end of the half shafts .
  7. I dunno...I've done some drifting and auto crossing (similar to autograss) , and I can't figure how you can get away with a reverse entry , without 4wd... awesome talent though .
  8. Tony , are thethe most desirable settings regardless of ride height?
  9. So basically if the max adjustment on one side isn't enough , for the correct camber angle , lock it there and move the other one to the same setting ? And the same for rear toe?
  10. Cheers Tony.. I was mostly having a rant! lol I'd seen your expert advice on IS200s before , that's what brought WIM to my attention tbh , in fact you were very helpful with free advice and suggestion on the LOC forum .
  11. not really Tony without slotting holes etc . That said , I wouldn't mind doing that so much if it really needs it . The struts are bolted on with 2 12mm bolts , like a Mk2 Golf front leg . Slotting of the top mount isn't too difficult on top , but access is very dificult on the rear . Dad rallies one , on proper competition tyres , the other ones are fun road cars .
  12. Just like so many Is200 owners , mine is eating off the inner edge . I've taken it to a few different "alignment centres" , and it never feels better for more than a few months.. the last time I bagged the machine myself , and spent a couple of hours and it's still not right! Getting fed up now... I'm going out to the garage tomorrow night , going to loosen off all the front adjusters , copper grease them all thouroughly , and do it myself with Camber guages , string and Dunlop guages!
  13. Hi all , I do a fair bit with retro cars , including 3 Fiat 131 Abarths . These have 15in wheels (195/50 15s), independant rear suspension , with adjustable toe front and rear , with Macpherson struts all round . Just wondering if anyone can suggest settings for fast road/trackday use ? Grip and stability is more important that tyre wear . I have to do my mates one very soon as it's way off , it's actually crabbing! Thanks in advance!
