Time to add some shine to the F360....

I've left it overnight so it's damp now so i think I'll spray the proofer and wash the car again ready for a polish later... Just cleaning it has made a world of difference and I didn't think it was that dirty obviously it was.

Parking is fine because i use next doors ramp  but getting it out is another issue?...Maybe it because i'm reversing blind? As for the roof it was hard work because i added the cleaner then washed to car to remove residual over flow from the paint and when that was nearly dry i used to protector and again washed the car.

I suppose what i'm looking for is some shine without all the buffing....I'm happy with the wax coat now with a Turtle wash and shammy dry works like a polish but for a roadster there's a lot of area to buff.

Try it then after you have washed and dried the car. It's very, very quick and no hard work involved just make sure you have a couple of clean microfibres ready. One to spread the stuff and the other to buff ( but it's easy buff ).

I'm still not sure what you mean, I've never heard of waterless polish. Do you mean the wash or these wash/wax ones? All they do is add a layer of protection and I can't see them lasting a week TBH.

If you want shine then you need to use some elbow grease and get some proper polish to use with abrasive pads. Removing scratches, swirls and oxidised paint is how you get the shine. Just do one panel a day or week if the whole car is too much in one go.

I'm on the case regarding the shine but for now it's the headlights and roof down.

I'm using this to remove the tarnished film

In truth after wasn't much different so part two is progressive pads

Next job was to lower the roof which i've never done before?

First part was to release the front window locks

Then lift the roof away from the engine cover

Then raise the boot

And lower the roof

The underside of the boot has some cheap looking locks which when released things fall into place

Once the boot was lowered things start to make sense

That's neat when the roof is down :) Shame about the bathroom door locks ;)

The stuff Tony is on about is the waterless wash and was ( I think ), it does leave a layer of carnuba on the car and next time you do it the layer gets thicker. I'd try one from Halfrauds to start Tony then if you like it there a couple you can buy in bulk.

Now I'm happy with the wax i decided to use this

Seemingly it adds shine without white dust or heavy buffing... So with a spray on and wipe off i rate this 9/10

One thing i really liked is it can be applied in hot conditions and trust me as easy as this shine is it was bloody hot today.

I couldn't really see a difference with the lights but they didn't look that bad in the before photo anyway. You definitely need to sand them polishing alone doesn't remove much.

The roof looks neat, I bet that is a pain to put back up quickly if you get a sudden downpour!

What happens to all those detailing products you bought off me a few years a go, have you used them all? You need to try some of the more niche products available and not the mainstream ones. I wouldn't believe the blurb you read on these neither, what works for one person doesn't for another. The trouble with the cheap products is they don't last that long at all. If it was me I'd buy some nice plush MF cloths and a nice wax you can apply every 2 or 3 months.

I have the MF cloths... I can't remember what happened to the stuff i bought off you? As for the headlights you grind some of the compound in first then use the pads for stubborn areas, so it did work but it's far from finished in my book. I think over time i will test and approve many produces because as you say not all of them deliver as described.

I've not used those kits before but will be doing the MX5 lights the same way I did them on the Accord. They're not as bad but I don't think a polish will do much, they need the sandpaper treatment.

The only reason I didn't buy a kit is cos I had it all already apart from the sandpaper. I think the 3M one is the favoured off the shelf kit to go for and the pads to polish them look better.

I used small microfibre spot pads when I did mine but the wool one in the kit you got does look a bit on the large side to me. How long did you spend on each headlight?

Bugger?...... Went and bought some AG wax and glass cleaner... Started the day treating the roof again, washed the car in AG shampoo, shamied the car, did the glass all ready for some Auto Glym super resin polish and Simoniz Quickshine Detailer then it rained :banghead:
