How to test drop links?

What is the correct way...with the weight of the car on them or off?

With the weight on the car they are solid, although I can twist them from side to side. Something tells me I need to check them with the car jacked up though?

there are a massive range of drop link styles for depending on the car, the MR2's are quite long and can twist, but the starlet are "fixed rods" with rubber bushings at each end so dont twist.

in my mind, because they are designed to link the sway bar there should be no up and down movement, else the energy wont be transfured, but twisting is irrelevent especially if like the MR2 they are required to twist in their operation.
