Rich
They have the Excell here. Same spec as the Premium and Bosch but only a 3 year guarantee, with the discount it's £53. There's too much choice, don't know whether to go for this or spend an extra £8 on the premium (4 year guarantee) or £20 more on the Bosch (5 year guarantee)!!! liner33
I'd got for the Bosch, you'll have better starting and a better warranty and probably never need to worry about another battery for the life of the car

Gordon
i've just got a Varta blue for the Lexus was going to go for cheaper one, but found place in Stockport selling Varta blue for just £10 more (no delivery i collected it) so went for it
liner33
I have Varta blues on both the Skoda and Evo , they seem to do the job well, had a Bosch Silver from the factory on my Merc it lasted 8 years without any trouble spinning that 3.2l 6 pot diesel every day without hassle

Although I have the Escort still I ideally need it today. i've just got a Varta blue for the Lexus was going to go for cheaper one, but found place in Stockport selling Varta blue for just £10 more (no delivery i collected it) so went for it Was that from a local motorfactor then? I can't really think of anywhere else around here I can get a battery from...Allparts only do 2 brands and they're not common ones I've heard of. Rich
Handy place to have nearby I've decided to go with the Bosch so reserved it online to collect later. Hopefully it was just a dead battery and it wasn't something causing it to drain, don't want any more problems!
parthiban
Have you tried Toyota? For my Lexus they were the cheapest by a fair chunk, way cheaper than anything else. Had a Bosch asiasilver in there as the last battery, didn't last any longer than the OEM one to be honest so not sure there's too much difference. Rich
TBH no I haven't and I can't be bothered with ringing around. I doubt I will find one like the Bosch with 5 year guarantee for £73. I don't even know what the standard battery spec is but the one on there is definitely underpowered. parthiban
Ok cool no worries - just thought I'd let you know as the cheapest I found outside was £80, OEM battery from Lexus was £
liner33
Japanese batteries usually arent great Yuasa are commonly fitted and they are a bit of a budget buy to be honest
dazz33
Bosch always seem to be good batterys mate, cant see it being a problem and the price is very good also. The euro car parts site is really good,i need a few bits for my vectra and had a look via your link I need new front discs and pads..are Pagid a good make for brake discs pads.? never used them for my cars before. Also like you Rich i will need a new battery very soon...when i got the car form the old bloke it had been sat in the garage for 5months and had gone dead so had to charge it up but every now and then after the car has been sitting for a day or so its really sluggish to start and turn over before firing

I couldn't get the - terminal on all the way though. The cable has those gold terminals on and if I open it anymore I won't be able to tighten it up. I started a thread about those brakes here here and my missus brother just bought some Pagid ones and they seem ok. If you do buy them from there don't pay full price, there are loads of 25% off codes on the web or I can send you one

parthiban
Think I tempted fate posting in this thread, needed to use my car that evening and it was completely and utterly dead, couldn't even unlock it. Slightly bizarre though given that I'd used it a few days earlier and it was absolutely fine, haven't had a chance to do anything about it yet but hopefully it's just a discharged battery through lack of use and nothing more serious. parthiban
Unlucky mate, but if you're not really using the car it's probably that...how old is the battery? Yep really low mileage at the mo, have only done around 150 miles in the last 4 months. Had just used it 4 days before with no hint of an issue though, that's why it was slightly weird that it got so dead that the car wouldn't even unlock. The battery's only a year old, so if after a charge it does the same again I'll take it back.
Rich
Same with my battery, showed no signs of it going and it started first time everytime, even the morning of the day it went flat. Yours will still be under guarantee so I would get it changed if nothing is draining it.
Rich
Filled up tonight and got 236 miles from my last tank (44 litres), which is 25mpg!! Think it's the short journeys to work, cold weather and winter tyres affecting it. Also met up with a CCUK member who took me out in his compressor, same engine as mine but the supercharged model. It's bloody fast, most of the extra power is low down before you hit lift but it was rapid. Being the face lift model it also came with front upper and lower brace plus a rear one. Although mine is lowered an extra 15mm compared to his my handling feels a little bit sloppy when cornering. Think I'm gonna try and get a front brace for it, the one he had was VERY thick. Rich
It is a highly tuned sports car though! I think it's the tyres or the cold affecting it TBH. That tank full did last me 5 weeks though!
