Rich
I'll remove these where the flexi hose joins the metal piping...do I need to drain the fluid first? Obviously a little bit will come out but I think it will only come out alot when the engine is running and it's pumping it around the system? Tony
Just crimp the metal brake pipe.

adam_r
wont that cause a permenet deformation of the metal pipe though ?
Tony
ER i assume we are talking about the Mondeo, if not don't crimp the pipe whatever you do
Rich
Yes the Mondeo, obviously I won't crimp the pipe on a car I'm still using!!

adam_r
it would have been a good start to civic ownership otherwise!

Rich
it would have been a good start to civic ownership otherwise! If I was changing the caliper on the Civic I would've clamped the flexi hose
Rich
I had a look at the pipes today, where they finish and join the flexi hose they're pointing upwards. Am I right in thinking that no fluid will come out unless I turn the ignition on and pump the brakes? So I might not have to crimp the pipes. SMARTLY
Doesn't gravity say it will flow down if there is any further up in the pipe? I'm thinking .... | | | | | | | | * * | | * |________| * doh !! It doesn't show it right
Rich
Obviously a little will leak from the flexi hose but I would've thought after that the rest will just sit in the pipe as there is nothing pumping it through. What were you trying to draw?
Tony
Gravity will play it's part....... On the caliper bleed nipple ( love that word ) you should have a rubber plug, put that on the pipe to stop the flow.
Rich
Well I tried clamping the pipe but it was still weeping out so in the end I snapped the lock screw off and clamped the very end of the pipe to stop it leaking. Tony
One way to do it.
Rich
Even though I clamped the pipe so it looked flat it still wasn't enough, the only way was to pinch the end together.
liner33
Just put some cling film over the top of the resevoir and screw the cap back on this causes a vacuum so the fluid cant leak out The ignition makes not difference the brakes are hydraulic
