made of titanium as opposed to iconel (Guessing nickel and iron alloy)

Probably Inconel rather than Iconel, in which case it is mainly nickel and chromium. There are various Inconel alloys and they do have small amounts of iron, but only about 5 to 10%. Very stable and corrosion resistant at high temperatures.

The engine vents pressure from the rocker cover to the inlet manifold and back through the intake , this pressure is made up of blow by gasses from past the pistons rings , oil mist from the internals moving about and slugs of air from the pistons moving up and down , its natural for engines to breath a little , they used to just vent this stuff to air but nowadays its recirculated back into the engine to be burnt again

BUT remember the bit where i said there was oil mist in there ??

Well that mist not only lines the intercooler and pipework but it also burns, which reduces the octane level of the fuel and makes the charge burn quicker so can cause detonation which is bad and can damage the engine

I've use this technique before where the fumes pass into the can and then are drawn back into the intake , fitting a can just means the oil mist at least the a part of it settles in the can and isnt drawn into the engine
