Rust on suspension?

Are suspension parts covered with anything to protect them from rust? My trailing arms and anti roll bars are covered in rust and bits flaking off them. I was going to wire brush them down, paint with that rust stuff I have and then hammerite them.

If the rust is really bad should the parts be replaced though, do they become brittle and snap?

When i was working at JCB, i'd take the parts into work and powder coat them,

used to be great as i could have the parts any colour i wanted, and they were even zinc coated in the process

Wish i worked there now as i've got loads of bits i could paint up

Must have been great working there then :D

How much does powder coating cost if you were to pay?
