Locking wheel nuts

Recommended Posts

Tony,

Any ideas on the torque settings for the locking wheel nuts on a 2003 vectra?, I know the others are at 110Nm, but have to say, I don't like the idea of torquing the locking ones up to that setting, somethings gonna shear I just know it!!

Cheers Pete

if you've a crappy 3 pin lock nut then i'd say change them... !

but if you've a spline type, then i'd say just torque them up to the manufacturers settings..

thats what i do with my Audi, it's 110 Nm...

I used to have the 3 pin type on me escort. Thanks to air guns on 2 of them the holes stretched and the key would no longer fit, resulting in me having to drill them both out damaging the alloys and the hubs! :angry2:

I now have some mcgard lockers and do them up just under the recommended torque settings, not taking any chances!

If they are the OEM locks then 110nm unless stated otherwise in the handbook...

After market locks be guided by the manufacturer but i think you will find it's the same.

As for the three pin "Tri-lock" nut others mention.... Remove them a throw them at the mother-in-law their useless.

Thanks mate, they OEM locks so 110Nm it is then, maybe I ought to buy some Tri-Locks anyway as throwing them at the Mother-in-law, sounds a great idea!! mind you bricks might be cheaper!!
