Rich
How comes none of the people on the deck really moved if it was that powerful?
adam_r
Dotn forget you are trying to slow hundreds of tons of metal. Previous experience of being on a type 45 frigate, I was told it was fast.. During sea trials, yes it was quick but was still remarkably slow to me. It would have been good for a reference point to show the deceleration
JamesV70R
Its quite a slow deceleration compared to what you're used to with cars - 35mph - 0mph in ~30 seconds. If you did the same in the car you'd barely notice yourself stopping. It's not going to generate any noticeable g-force. What's most impressive is that it is thousands of tonnes stopping in the same time - imagine the forces on the reverse buckets on the jets. There's a lot of energy being stopped!

Nope, I used to work on and maintain the SCOTT satellite communication system on the type 42,43,45s and carriers. Was a fantastic job and lots of amazing times, did that when I was 18-19.
