Tony
This condition is a result of a cut in the tread. If the depth doesn't penetrate the tyres inner liner the tyre will still stay inflated. The open cut allows the exposed metal cords to rust and snap.... The pressure works in the weakened aria. Agreed the condition is unknown initially but this tyre would have a desperate effect when driving, so I'm not imprest with the ignorance. Tony
I'm so sad because i know what make that tyre is..... Mich XWX. I used to work with Firestone and one of their range was the S1..... The fail rate was undeliverable. Back in the late 80's four people died in a motorway accident due to the tyre. Firestone was fined millions and for this reason they pulled out of the UK including all their centres called "All Tyres". Fortunately modern tyres apply a rust free solution to the wire casing greatly reducing fail numbers.
