Tony
This wheel had been cracked before and welded but simply because the crack wasn't drilled at the end it opened up again and creped further basically scrapping the wheel. Rich
I read that when looking at how to repair a split plastic sink. The first thing you need to do is drill that hole to prevent it splitting further.
Tony
Basic standards for a so called professional welder. This example, by the way, had nothing to do with our welder who welds to aircraft standards.
jammy
Glad I've seen this.. Never had to have a wheel welded but I'll be sure to make sure that it's drilled before hand
Tony
Anyone that welds to aircraft standard would know how to prepare the alloy.
