Would he have paid extra?....

What's the airlines take on this... Agreed he's sitting on the one seat but he is also blocking the aisle so wouldn't the airline be in beach of H&S since he's blocking the escape route.

Surprised they let him do that , usually if you cant fit in the seat with the armrest down you need to buy two seats , most airlines have strict policies on obese passengers

Surely they couldn't have allowed that.

 

Unless he was taking multiple seats like the empty ones behind and he was just talking to his mate while having a little stand up or something similar.

Maybe the space between the seats is to small on the seats behind?.... But yeah i would think he should have two seats and not block the aisle and even that's assuming he can get out in the allotted time if escape was required.

Don't worry about him getting out in an emergency, what about everybody else?

Well true... both.... Also if i recall right there was a suggestion passenger weight was to be measured at check in? Maybe that's why he is seated mid-plane.
