Tony
That's a result if they do that.

liner33
Well after all that fuss about servicing , I went to the Jag main dealer on Tuesday and got the oil changed and guess what ? They used the wrong oil , 5w30 when it should be 5w20 or 0w20 Â Confirmed when I spoke to specialist and checked the owners manual. What a pain , fired off an email so will see what they do , I'd rather just get a refund on the oil so I can do it myself . least I know its done then
Tony
That is terrible, i mean FFS if they can't get that right dare you to let them do something more complex like empty the ashtray!!
Rich
Was this the dealer in Basingstoke? What a pain after driving all that way. Â I've read about Lexus dealers doing that before which is why I prefer to DIY it but then I can't do that on the CT as we'll lose the warranty. liner33
So final update - Jaguar in Basingstoke called me and have assured me that 5w20 oil was used on the service and the 5w30 on the invoice is an administration error , have to say that doesn't fill me with confidence but they will send an amended invoice to reflect this so all should be good going forwards re-warranty
Gordon
If you buy Genuine parts and get independent garage (vat reg) to do the work, the warranty should still be ok
liner33
Cant specific terms and conditions attached to Jaguar used warranty
Tony
I can understand why your cynical but another invoice directs any wrong doings to them.
liner33
Well thought an update was due , I've had the car a year this week and its flown by, covered about 5500 miles      Tony did the geometry for me back in August and a lot of minor things were tweaked, think it was just rear toe slightly out but a lot of fine tuning was done , cant say its transformed it but it does feel better coming off roundabouts on power, maybe that's in my mind though.  I decided to bite the bullet and just change the oil myself, not 100% convinced the oil was ever really changed , it was pretty black , anyhow it has the right stuff in it now some Motul 5w20 (takes 7.25l !) and I'll do it again in the spring  Big news is I went for more power .....of course . Stock the car is said to make 510ps (503hp) and 461ft lbs of torque . On the dyno my car made 528hp and 513ft lbs , not sure why , could be the fact I always run Vpower and they will run 95 unleaded , could also be the K&N air filters adding a little, could just be the dyno but after a smaller supercharger pulley and a remap was done we ended up with 606hp and 626ft lbs which does feel nice on the road . Also got a device so I can reflash stock map on if needs be or rewrite the remap if it gets wiped for any reason   Next step performance wise is to improve the charge cooler.  More importantly I need new front brakes , currently thinking about which ones to go for , not a huge amount of choice but might go for EBC red pads
Tony
Still looks stunning....Has it really been a year 606hp on command is mighty powerful, i wish my car had a third of that
liner33
Well it was going so well  After having the supercharger pulley replaced i drove home , the supercharger sounded different but i figured that was just because it was spinning faster  Took my wife to the airport and dropped her off but shortly after I started again I could hear a bearing noise  Got home and took the video , pretty sure that the bearings on the front of the supercharger are knackered, car has done about 150 miles since the work  After a lot of too'ing and fro'ing I got the car recovered to the specialist and they have confirmed the supercharger coupling is shot but claim that has nothing to do with them and its just co-incidence, I reckon they damaged the bearings fitting the pulley  The coupler is £300 and they will fit for free , I have to pay for it though  Worst that that they recommend a complete new supercharger which is £2500  Cant say how fed up I am about it , its really taken the shine off the car for me.  I have two choices really a) Have the new coupler fitted and sell the car or have a new supercharger fitted and keep it
Tony
My word that sounds horrible .....Saying it's a "co-incidence" sounds like a fob-of to me. AÂ co-incidence should fall on their plate not yours!!
Rich
Wow that doesn't sound good at all  Definitely a coincidence and must be related to the work they did.
liner33
Its proving it though, I spoke to an independent specialist and he said it could be through wear and tear but equally it could be though simply tapping the new pulley on with a hammer
Tony
What's it made of...Glass?..... At worst they should meet you half way with the product cost.
P4UL T
it could be though simply tapping the new pulley on with a hammer Sounds about right, A previous company car I had, had the front discs & pads replaced at Fords. As soon as I got the car back I could hear the wheel bearing wineing. Due to my work schedule it was a week or so before I could take it back. By then the driveshaft bearing was fooked too. I’m 100% sure it was caused by the replacement of the discs.
Rich
Its proving it though, I spoke to an independent specialist and he said it could be through wear and tear but equally it could be though simply tapping the new pulley on with a hammer   That's the problem with things like this you can't prove it was their doing so there's not much you can do.  Is there any reason why they recommend a new supercharger rather than just replacing the coupler?
liner33
They said the supercharger is worn, but then it would be as the car is 5 years and 60k old  I have decided to bite the bullet, new supercharger going on  Back of the coupler does look like water has gotten in but not convinced that has anything to do with the bearing failure
Rich
How long should a supercharger last for before it needs maintenance?
liner33
100k oil change interval but everything wears , thing is if the supercharger goes it could take the engine with it
Tony
It's a bitter pill but at least you will know the service intervals in the future.
Rich
If there's a chance of the engine getting damaged then I guess it's worth replacing the charger. How much is an engine in comparison!!
