  1. My partner has a 06 MX5 Sport, the handling is IMO, terrible, the issue is the stability of the rear end, it feels lose and moves around when coming on and off the throttle aggressively or if it hits any road undulation when cornering, for context the car has 54k miles wearing Pirelli tyres with good tread and pressures checked. An inspection showed a huge amount of play in the lateral arms so I’ve replaced the bushes but it’s not improved things. It’s my intention to visit Tony for a full alignment and possibly their lowering springs but I feel I should try and resolve the underlying issue first, is it worth me sourcing/replacing anything else such as the drop links beforehand, could it be worn out dampers? Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. Hi WIM I wondered if you could help me. I recently had the front droplinks replaced on my MX5 Nc. Unfortunatley shortly afterwards one snapped. It looked as if it was installed incorrectly so the garage replaced both fronts free of charge again for me. On inspection they look to be correctly installed this time however they look to be different designs on each side?? Is this correct, I think I read somehere they are different on the left and right. Would this have a major affect on handling?, ride is improved but steering still feels a little light. I plan to have the Geo adjusted as I recently replaced my shocks aswell. Or would this be wasted efforts?....ive attached pics below. Any advice would be great.
  3. Hey Everybody, I am a new user of the forum and hope I havent missed these questions elsewhere. I have had my MX5 for about a year now and have been looking at getting a set of coilovers and geo to sort its handleing and also improve its cosmetic look also looking at changing tyre size I have been taking some ques from the BRSCC technical specs My questions are:- 1. I am planning on changing to 215/45/17 tyres but can only afford to do two at the moment to replace the worn ones is this possible without damaging anything until I can replace the others? (current 205/45/17) 2. Do you measure ride height with or without fuel (or should it remain static)? 3. How long after fitting the coil overs do I need to wait/far to drive before completing a geo? Any help will be much appreciated Many Thanks Matt
  4. I have a standard mx5 1.8 that I use at weekends and the occasional track day. I would like to lower the ride height a little and improve the handling. Are Gaz coilovers the only way to? How much do they cost, supply, fit, geometry? Appreciate any advice.
  5. Hi All I have had my 2007 MX5 NC for a number of months now after purchasing it in November. It came with all 4 budget tyres which did not suit the car at all. Currently I have BF Goodrich Gforce profilers on the rear and Kuhmo Ecstas on the front on 16" rims. Despite spending out on tyres that I knew had a good reputation I was stil underwhelmed with the way the car handled, especially at low speed. I then took a visit to WIM for a Geometry setup in December before a winter trip to Germany as the car was very skittish on the motorway. This undoubtedly help as the car felt much smoother and safer afterwards However recently the cars handling is still not great and does not feel sporty like Id imagine it should. The front feels very light and floaty, especially at low speeds and does not feel as if there is much weight to the steering - feeling flat and lifeless. It also skips over slight imperfections in the road and tramlines under braking- all in all it doesnt inspire much confidence when driving. For some reason the TC cuts in almost all the time too. At higher speeds things seem better but still not perfect and does not feel planted to the road. My old Focus felt more stable! I heard lowering onto the Eibach springs may help some of these issues, or does it sound as if there are bigger issues at play here? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am really dissapointed in the car so far.
  6. Hi Tony and WIM team! After a couple of years enjoying the fast-road setup you gave me on my mx-5, I'm considering moving her on for an Rx-8, and I'm wondering if they are anywhere as adjustable as the mx5 was, and if a test drive that goes with L/R with on/off throttle behaviour is any kind of 'classic' xyz geometry adjustment? Thanks in advance, Waz.
