  1. Bloody brakes eh! I go through calipers annually it feels. I have a cut off to fit also so would appreciate some pics when you do it!
  2. Doesn't matter what you do cream will pick up marks and dyes off jeans etc. A sealant when new is a great move. I'd probably just keep them topped up regularly with a decent leather cleaner/nourisher. You'll be ok with a cream on those. For perforated leather I'd be using a clear liquid of some sort else the cream gets in everything. Learned the hard way lol!
  3. Not sure what the box is like on yours but generally it's an improvement, question is by how much! I had a B&M one on my 106gti and that was a big leap forward. Removed the slop/wiggle if you know what I mean!
  4. Korrosol is a iron/fallout removal spray that you apply and dwell then wash off with high pressure water. It removes iron deposits and other nasty environmental stuff that lands on the paint through normal use and can damage the paint. Washing alone won't get it off and you ideally don't want to clay the car with anything like that on there. The spray turns purple as it reacts to contaminants so you can see it working. Once it's blasted off you have reduced the amount of microscratches you are introducing to the clearcoat. It's one of those things that if done regularly will make cleaning easier and keep the paint looking great. The gyeon wet coat is a massive time saver if you don't have time or can't be arsed with polishing/waxing like me.
  5. Washed the mx5 yesterday after a 3 month spell in the garage. Used the last of my Gyeon wetcoat. I love this stuff - so easy to use !! (Set up a newflickr account as well finally - FU Photobucket!!!! Its a bit of a faff though might start a new thread on that one) Snowfoam gun was a fail - its all gunked up from being stored badly over the winter so i need to strip that down and clean the mesh. But otherwise this was a quick 2 hour wash, with Bilt Hamber Korrosol being the biggest win of the day - amount of crap that it pulled off the paint!!, bearing in mind last time it went into the garage it had a fresh application of wet coat it must of picked up a load of debris from my garage roof. Looked like actual rust on my panels but this ate it away and the issue disappeared. Also tried some of my new jumbo drying towels, didnt realise what i was missing. Makes drying the car a really fast process. Bad times though - my trusty detailing wheelie box that i use to cart all my gear from the back garden, down the side alley to my drive has a broken hinge. It was a touch small for all my gear in reality so now looking for a replacement. Any suggestions ? Cheers! Steve
  6. I've fitted one to the mx5 from Moss. Once the centre console is out it was 3 bolts and a cable tie snip and remove the top boot, then a second metal plate with 4 bolts and it pops out. Worst bit was transferring the plastic bush/cup thing into the new shifter without breaking it. I think this was on my blog before it took a dump. Used a turkey baster of all things to remove the old fluid from the shifter (its a separate reservoir to the actual box) and refreshed whilst i was there. 15 min job, 3/10 difficulty The shift was already excellent - its provided a minor decrease in throw. All in it was a good move, i wouldn't say it was a must on the MX5 though!
  7. Coming along Tone! Looks miles better once you have the roof down. Love the moonstone blue type colour, had a few cars myself like that. Those gold emblems are a personal taste thing for sure. I guess my question is are you going for authenticity with the car? Trying to make it look as real as possible? I would say if so sometimes less is more in that respect. You know you could probably drop in a MR2 turbo lump relatively easily and cheaply and with a few tweaks get performance/sound to match the looks....would finish her off a treat! just saying Look forward to seeing how the paint turns out!
  8. That creme is good I have some. The meguiars one is also excellent.
  9. Yes there should be tracking info in ebay at some stage after shipping. Yeah I'd agree that the upright bit looks like where the hasp goes hopefully as long as they are on the correct sides when the frames pointing forwards.
  10. Don't worry about it for now. Keep a track of your shipment via online tracking. After arriving into Heathrow It'll go into a status like "awaiting customs charge payment" or "Being processed by local customs" and then you will know to expect a letter. They'll get it to you rather quickly don't you worry!! They don't want your stuff cluttering up the warehouse
  11. Yep none of them do. It puts people off ordering! It's still cheaper though and you might not get a letter
  12. No vendors don't give a crap about customs charges. It's out of their hands. I've imported from the US and Japan and usually you get a parcel force invoice and they put your stuff into a hold until you pay up. If you are lucky though it could slip through the net but in my experience its only the small jiffy bag stuff they can't be arsed with. Just something to be braced for. It's not like you have a choice on this one.
  13. That's why I went for the Recaros. It's a false economy to mess about and the outcome will be not so good. You'll be fine with those if they are model specific and have the hasp attachments on board. Just be prepared for customs to take a slice also....
  14. That's how I'd do it and you know it will be safe. Make sure you use the correct automotive grade bolts and nothing from screwfix for those. You won't be adding any value to the car doing this but it'll be safe and that's all that matters.
  15. If you are lucky there might be something on the transmission tunnel.
  16. Wow you've been busy Tone! Careful you don't go too far with the bolt ons! I had a similar brush with aftermarket seats with the mx5 before I went and got the Recaros which bolt straight in. I'd say getting some old Mr2 rails and taking what you need from those to make the new seats fit and sell the others on complete will net you a few quid back. Just make sure whoevera is doing the metalwork and welding uses thick gauge steel (zero flex) and can weld properly! Also one other thing : watch out that the headroom is ok once the seats are bolted in on the new adaptors. That can catch people out and they end up feeling like they are on a bar stool!
  17. Don't get the cutoff from MX5 parts mate - you can get them cheaper off amazon etc. They are all the same thing when you look at them. I'm going to get one myself for the winter but just unsure how i'll crimp the wires and terminate them....
  18. Congrats, hardy little buggers, its the rust that'll cause grief at MOT time generally. I think i need a cut off on mine also really as i think i have ruined my S5 Bosch battery by letting it go flat too many times. Would be interested to see what you go for!
  19. I don't anymore, i've lost the will to live when it comes up uploading and sorting out the blog. Photobucket are charged with ruining the internet and forums globally. Hateful company and i hope they implode due to their greed.
  20. Wow nice one tony only just saw this thread! As far as replicas go that doesnt look bad at all. I've seen some shockers in my time. From the photos if it were me though i would probably look to space the rear wheels out a smidgeon to sit flush and get the track looking right, but otherwise theres nothing obvious to indicate its underpinnings! Enjoy mate!
  21. If you are asking about mine - no idea. I could see Diesel was about to take a kick in the balls so i offloaded ASAP and jumped into a petrol hybrid (Lexus). I think it probably would have been effected though as it was a 2ltr TDI.
  22. Congratulations on the new ride A certain amount of relief to be off the rotary ? I find myself facing the prospect of selling the Lexus soon and getting another Estate so i might look at something similar as i enjoyed my A4 Avant and served me well.
  23. Yeah I know rich but I'm fuming with Photobucket. A lot of time and effort to upload and link in and given no warning so I could transition. Amateur hour and in any other place heads would roll for s**t like that. I don't have the time to start again. I struggle to get on here anyway. F*ck them I hope they go under. Service was slow and riddled with ads and poor design anyway.
