I bought a part worn tyre that's on me car now a few weeks ago. Just checked the date, it says 2304.
So has this gone out of date or has it got another 2 years left?
Two years left
That's ok then...
So if it were to break up like your photo and was a fault of the tyre would I be entitled to a replacement even though it's a part worn?
What exactly do the manufacturers guarantee?
The guarantee is against manufacturing defects.... The tyre is sent back for inspection (free to you) and inspected to asses liability. The refund is a percentage for the unused remaining tread... Half worn then half your replacement fee back.
So I guess you need to prove you actually bought the tyre from new?
Otherwise people could be buying badly damaged worn ones that are still guaranteed and try to claim on them?

Damn that's low! Doesn't it catch any where?
Welcome to WIM as well

Never been a fan of beetles but for some reason I like that
Will be a good read

Something I've never thought of even though I check me tyres regularly.
I have bought some 2nd hand tyres to put on me escort, better check the date on them though!

Is it possible to replace a cam belt with a chain?
-
I'd love some 19's on mine but can't afford the rubber! Plus it would probably kill the acceleration!
-
That don't look good!
Doesn't matter how much knowledge you have when it comes to cars there's no excuse for not checking tyres. I check mine at least once a fortnight...
-
Very nice wheels indeed, they 18's?
-
WAHEY...WIM shop has a ford section
-
I thought you were running after market rims. Didn't know there was a problem with ford ones.
You can get the kit here, choose you vehicle and it will give you a price - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...de=EIBE5.81260K
Just checked and they've taken the ford option off, you may have to phone them for a quote.

Out of interest what offset are your wheels and tyre profile?
Tony - Is this more of a problem with the MK3 than the MK2? When I get me 17's am I going to have any camber problems with mine?
-
I'm not too sure but are the toe settings correct do you have a print out of the measurements that were taken?
Maybe the 18's have thrown the camber out too much, you can buy adjustable kits for the mondeo for about 120 quid.

Borrowing a version of http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html would also be very useful!
That's the one I use and yes it's very useful...
-
Yes from me as well
-
If that had come right out it could've been nasty, especially on a motorway :graduated:
-
Do you think it was just a one off then if you haven't experienced this before?
I've been looking at some lower arms for mine already poly bushed made by deflex. The ball joints are bolted on though, is this ok to do or should they be riveted?
-
That don't look too clever!
Did they bring the car in for this problem or something else?
-
Thanks Tony, will definitely get them then :rolleyes_anim:
-
Thanks, I will be getting some then...
Take it these are tamper proof as well, as in no one could let your tyres down unless the extension is put on?
-
Not sure, these ones though - http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/product.asp...History=related
-
Worth spending an extra 15quid to get them then, finished the look off as mine all have different size rubber valves! :rolleyes_anim:
How do you pump the tyres up though, I assume you get an adaptor or something as I only use me portable compressor, not the ones in petrol stations. Also are they reusable?
