It would drive me mad!
The missus has heard it from here a few times but only faintly.
I wonder how this has affected nearby property prices. Although the route is quite rural it's still passing by some homes.

Yes, a fair bit and a few offers £4-4.5K but am holding out for the time being.
Don't really understand why some ask for a few more pics or info and then just don't repsond any more, but it isn't a true time-waster yet so not that bothered.
After having got partially underneath is doesnt look too bad and its only really the sills and offside A post that really needs surgery so am tempted to see if I can get it properly driveable so it would pass an inspection if I put the registration on retention for selling later.
That's good then, shows they are sought after even with the usual timewasters. Have you thought about trying an auction (with a reserve) like mathewsons? From watching the show there is always interest in old cars like these.

I swear more and more lights are being added to the HS2 construction site. Here's a photo of it from my road! 👎
Lots of people living nearer the site complain of a constant humming noise all night, it must drive them mad!

Had any interest in the car Andy?

The cars need a good claying and de-tarring before I think about polishing them and adding an LSP. It's finding the time to do it though. So something that will help remove the dirt during the wash process will definitely be ideal. Even after washing I find bits I've missed and have to go over them.
I've never been in to the whole snowfoaming thing and don't want to buy a lance ATM. Once we've moved and I hopefully have more time I may consider it. Although I could use snowfoam with the pressure washer spray bottle, it just won't be as thick.
Looking on Bilt Hamber there seems to be a new product called touchless. It's not cheap but I may give that a go. In the winter the cars get filthy a few days after washing so if I can just use something that gets the majority of the dirt off and not even have to wash that would be better.
I remembered I have some surfex left in the shed, although it's marketed as a degreaser I wonder if I can finish it off as prewash cleaner 🤔

I've not had the time to detail for a long time and TBH I'm not in to it like I was but one thing I've never done is used a pre wash.
Both cars are minging again but just rinsing down with the pressure washer doesn't really remove much. Is a pre wash left to soak for a few minutes going to make much difference or a waste of money. Any recommendations?

Wow, every year! I've had my Accord for over 9 years! 😂
If you can do it though you might as well, saves the aggro of an MOT and service, although on a 3 year old car it should sail through anyway.

Yes, back to the 1.8, I’ve only done 3700 miles in 2 1/2 years so don’t really need the 2.0.
Not seen the new Prius, will have a look later 😀
Nice one but why are you changing your car again if your mileage is so low or do you always replace it every 3 years?
Really surprised the Prius is no longer available over here, what a shame.

That doesn't look too bad for a 60 year old motor. How much are mint ones selling for? Could it be worth getting it roadworthy at least and getting more for it?
-
Awesome! Got any more photos, especially the interior? Have you done any engine/power mods?
I do miss a bit of lift, used to take people by surprise! 😁
-
Yes mate that's my old one, nice to see it's still on the road 😁 20 years old nearly!
Have you done any other mods to it other than lowering/different wheels from looking at the photos?

I get that quote a lot, usually refreshing the page gets rid of it. From what I've found it's a chrome issue, do you use that browser on your iPhone?
I'm not sure if there's anything I can do at the server end, I'll have to look in to it some more.

Just to update I sent all of the documents and they emailed back to say everything was fine. Certainly less hassle than cancelling and changing but I hope this is a one off!

I had an email back from more than today confirming I need to send the details, it's the underwriters requesting it. I also had a letter in the post about it.

Cancel and go elsewhere. You'll lose a month maybe, but I'd do it just out of spite.
I could but I pay for the year upfront so that means the hassle of getting a refund, searching for new quotes and cancelling the breakdown that was included. It's hassle either way but probably easier to give them the info. I won't be renewing though unless it was an exceptionally good price!
-
Well the email says some customers will be subject to extra routine checks. I guess it's to make sure you've told the truth about where the car is kept, points/convictions etc.

I renewed the Accord insurance last month with more than. Tonight I got an email asking me to send a utility bill, copies of all named drivers photocard licenses and a copy of the DVLA record for both, plus the original copy of my proof of NCB. The last one will be difficult as it was emailed.
It's definitely a legit email as it says my name, policy number and comes from an rsagroup.com address. They include a check form and ask to post everything or email it. What a faff!
In 25 years of driving I have never been asked to do this but if I don't they'll cancel my insurance.
Anyone else had this?

I've seen it suggested on a few forums before but yeah it's probably not a good idea! Caravan frame probably is alloy thinking about it, the chassis is definitely steel though as it's rusty.
I'll get some new bags and try them, I've had mine a few years now. Do they have a shelf life?
-
I dry them in the airing cupboard or radiator but have never felt they work well when I've used them in the cars before.
We've been using trays of salt in our caravan over winter for 25 years and never had issues with rust inside. The salt absorbs the water and this is collected in the tray. It's not like it will be in direct contact with the metal. Having said that I may get some cat litter as that does the same job.
I'll be checking the car when I get home from work. With the rain we've had I'm hoping it'll be dry. I sealed the window again but it's the drivers floor I'm concerned about now. The seals all look fine and there doesn't seem to be any gaps between them so I'm not sure how the water is getting in. I might just have to cover it up for winter and sort it next year now.

Mazda still don't have great rust proofing, never have. The newer Toyotas look very nice... And it's a Toyota it will just keep on going!
Don't they, that's a shame.
I do like Toyota/Lexus and will definitely be considering one for my next car. I did look at the Yaris T Sport after owning the Corolla version but they're a target for CAT thieves around here!

How is salt in trays going to cause rust? It'll just absorb the moisture which will end up in the tray.
I already have a few desiccant bags and I've never found them to work that well.
-
We've had a lot of rain the last few days. Still have a couple of small leaks from the window and have trays on the parcel shelf to catch the water. I'll have to add more sealant over the weekend but there are no longer any large puddles on the floor!
It is still wet in the drivers footwell which seems to be getting in from between the door seal and the windscreen one. I'm going to remove them to clean up and check for damage. I may have to replace them if I can't stop it but there's no point putting the carpet back down until I have!
I'll need to find some new sound deadening too so I can replace what I had to rip off.

I have a big bag of salt to put in trays and leave in the car over winter. Hopefully they'll do the job.

Bullet proof the 7th gen accords, really wish they didn't cease production at the 8th gen. Such a fantastic motor and a very engaging drive!
That's why I've kept it for 9 years, I just love driving the car. It's not particularly quick but still pulls well. Considering I paid £2600 for it and probably spent £1.5-£2k on repairs, mainly using Honda parts, it's served me well.

The Accord is 20 years old in April, I think it's aged well, same for your Lexus, they're just built to last.
It's a shame the rust gets them eventually though. One of my rear arches is very rusty so I have it taped up with duck tape! There is just no point paying out to have it repaired, that would cost more than what the car is worth.

That's pretty good mpg for a 2L petrol in a big heavy car.
Why would you go for a Toyota over the Mazda?

That speed gloss looks good but I'm not buying any new products like that just yet, still got loads of polish, wax and sealants sitting in the box!
I'll probably get a lance once we move but I definitely need something to make washing the cars easier in the meantime.
