  1. Explains a lot of my issues, Thank you for your help. Matt
  2. Hi Tony, Thanks for your quick response, looks like a change will be good then. Thanks Matt
  3. Hello, Please could I get some advice on suspension, as I am thinking of changing and would like double check I'm not wasting money or going insane. Current setup IL anti roll bars. GAZ coilovers. IL standard drop links. Standard bushings except Rear upper forward link arm bushes (replaced due to excessive play with Powerflex) there shouldn't be any twisted bushes. Hankook v12 evo2 225/45/17 (standard sport alloys) 345mm all round WIM Geo fast road. My issues/ reason for change - The main reason I am thinking of changing is what i would guess is bounce? The bonnet seems to be constantly moving up and down, at night you see the head lights jump from exhaust to window on the car in front, or if you put your head on the head rest it feels like its been rocked back and forth vigorously. I have tried multiple different damper settings on both front and rear from about 5 to 20+ on the front and 5 to 15+ on the rear although I can feel the vehicle dynamics change but doesn't seem to help with the bounce. Also the setup doesn't give me confidence, its never lacking grip or speed but its constantly twitchy even at low speeds and It seems to bump steer in corners. I can get a balanced feel with the damper settings but it doesn't make up for the above. I come from driving a classic mini amongst other things so am used to a firm and shaky ride but not bouncy, I would like to think I have good vehicle control but I've only been driving RWD for about 4 years so still lots to learn. I have been meaning to do some track days but time and money limits have meant that it s mostly road use. I'm guessing its probably a track vs road suspension issue but as I can't pin point my issues thought id ask for advice? Was thinking maybe MeisterR ZetaCRD would help but would like to hear your recommendations? Many Thanks Matt
  4. Hi, Sorry for the delay in responding, didn't seem to get notification of responses, I think I've sorted that now. Apart from the delay involved in removing and sending off to GAZ they didn't charge me anything to service them and have been working fine since without issue. I appreciate that you get what you pay for but when your limited by budget constraints, you would hope that choosing something used by BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Supercup would provide a suitably reliable product. I've been preparing the car for this years MOT and while I was doing some checks I thought I would check for twisted bushings so loosened and re tightened while sitting on the ground the fronts don't seem to have moved but the rear has gone down one side and up on the other by about half an inch but still. I also found quite a lot of oil in my throttle body when I changed my thermostat so hoping there's not further issues, car will be mot'd mid march so wonder if that'll highlight anything else! If it survives that will be coming down for a GEO the car will have the GAZ suspension and IL Motorsport anti roll bars and droplinks but have noticed some rotational play within the rear trailing link arm and was wondering if that's normal or need replacing? also there is some rust/flaking around the the alignment bolts will I need to replace these? and finally I'm thinking of going to 225/45/17 tyres all round will that still be suitable to GEO Many Thanks for your continued support Matt
  5. Interesting, it does look like it's the top oil seal that's gone. The supplier is contacting GAZ so will see what they say. Thanks Matt
  6. Hey, I've had my MOT today which failed due to leaking GAZ coilovers there less than a year old with about 7k miles since fitting, both fronts leaking, no visible damage, just road usage. Does this sound right? What could of caused it? I have contacted the supplier to request help/ replacements as still in warranty Any help is greatly appreciated Many Thanks Matt
  7. Hi I have now just fitted a set of Gaz coilovers and wondered if there was a general rule when it comes to setting the damping settings? Thanks Matt
  8. Hi, Thanks for your quick responce much appreciated, I have ordered all the parts and hopefully will receive and fit them in a few weeks. Once settled i'll get it booked in with WIM for the geo once again thanks Matt
  9. Hey Everybody, I am a new user of the forum and hope I havent missed these questions elsewhere. I have had my MX5 for about a year now and have been looking at getting a set of coilovers and geo to sort its handleing and also improve its cosmetic look also looking at changing tyre size I have been taking some ques from the BRSCC technical specs My questions are:- 1. I am planning on changing to 215/45/17 tyres but can only afford to do two at the moment to replace the worn ones is this possible without damaging anything until I can replace the others? (current 205/45/17) 2. Do you measure ride height with or without fuel (or should it remain static)? 3. How long after fitting the coil overs do I need to wait/far to drive before completing a geo? Any help will be much appreciated Many Thanks Matt
