  1. Thanks for looking, have been offered a good price on Toyo's which is TVR's recommended tyre now, but they again are only V rated. Nangkang do a W rated but not too sure about putting a budget tyre on, I know lots are as good as their premium products but not sure which ones as been out the game too long lol.
  2. I will need to get the rear shocks sorted as had one fail in a big way, the top lock nut came undone and allowed the damper to unwind from it's mount, the damper still works but the threads need tidying up plus not too sure about using them again, either way the car will need corner weighting once they are back on. Do you have scales there?
  3. Yes when running normally I believe it would be .75 or 3/4 to 1 degree, but as standard the car was having trouble biting into corners, the rear would grip then lose it all of a sudden, now the car is very controlable, can chuck it into a corner and drift out the other side, something TVR's don't normally do. Must say it does suit my driving style but probably not the fastest way round a track or country lane lol. A big question would be how the car would drive if adjusted back again, would it be the uncontrolable monster it was before?
  4. guess it's more about getting the car looking low than making sure the dampers are working to their full potential, with the stiff springs the car will have less roll and the owner will think it's handling much better.
  5. This is the problem, it was set up for track day use and they gave it lots of camber, so wouldn't mind it being reset to overcome awful tyre wear but then don't want to lose that turn in they gave me when having it set up. also never use it on track anymore but for b roads it's still much better than before, except a fair amount of tramlining on badly rutted roads.
  6. Suppose you could compare it to the Hilo system used on mini's, has the same effect, used to adjust ride height without needing adjustable dampers, then lowering the car is mainly a looks thing I guess.
  7. Is the Griff not adjustable on the camber natural or forced?... .Also are you looking for tyre prices. The camber is adjustable at the front yes, does Wim sell tyres as well? If you do some prices would be good
  8. Just doing a mini service on the Griff and noticed the tyres were rather low but they have worn very badly on the inside I run 1 3/4 degrees neg camber of the front but didn't expect such bad wear. Paul Also anyone know where I can get decent 225/50x15 in W or higher rating? Looks like Bridgestone have sold out of S03's
  9. Is this your cars actual data? or suggested target positions. On these cars the caster etc isn't adjustable so should be fixed.
  10. Peninsula were selling adjustable bottom arms a few years ago, also had longer one to allow more camber. not sure what effect that would have though.
  11. No the car is a TVR Griffith, running standard shocks and springs, upgraded bushes have been fitted, the geometry has been done and not running anything heavy, just .75 neg camber on the front.
  12. Not my car but someone from the Griffith forum is having problems on b roads of the car following the camber excessively and getting bump steer with pot holes, apparently feels very unsteady, has new bushes etc in the suspension so looking for other options
  13. Did I see a topic about pairing tyres on here using the lines painted in the tyres? Thought I did but can't find it in the search.
  14. Seen a few like that when I was fitting tyres, saw a few remoulds do similar but then I think they often used Michelin casings. Remember seeing one remould start to mutate once fitted as they hadn't found the puncture in the case, the air pressure then lifted the tread off the tyre, very strange as the hump started growing out the tyre lol
  15. The new mini has a reset button for the run flat sensor just below the hand brake lever, I presumed most other cars should have the same? Although saying that BMW wanted £25 to press the button.
  16. What sort of tyre wear will I see if the wheels are toeing out? If I remember from years ago toe out causes insides of the tyres to wear? it seems to turn in ok when going into roundabouts but it's still a huge car compared with what I am used to.
  17. Has anyone used Toyo TR-1's? I'm about to purchase a set for my Lexus IS250 and they appear to have mixed reviews. Some like them a lot but others say they are not so good in the wet (contrary to their press release). Peeps have compared them unfavourably against Bridgestones SO2's, and say they are a cheap tyre and therefore not the best (don't understand this line of reasoning as the price difference isn't that great). I understand they are a softer compound than most, but I don't mind sacrificing longevity for grip. Lots of the TVR owners report that the sidewalls are softer so they need a bit of extra pressure but they grip well, other than that I've had not personal experience.
  18. Interesting you say Toyo's are a budget as they seem to be used as original equipment on TVR's now. I also thought the Marshals and Kuhmo were a good tyre, also Kelly which seemed to be nearly identical to their sister branded Goodyear's. do they still make Kelly tyres as never see them about anymore?
  19. As posted in my other topic I'm looking for a pair of tyres for the Rover, now this is just the runabout and I don't want to spend a fortune on pukka tyres for it. so the question is I can get a budget tyre from Blackcircles for £42 a corner, that's a bit of a saving over the Falkens which are fitted at the moment, the tyres are speed rated etc but are budgets a bad idea? When I was fitting them some of the budget brands like marshal etc were very good quality yet others looked worst than a remould lol. Are they ok now or should I pay double for a decent make?
  20. Well after a hunt around my local tyre fitters not many had any in my size, the ones that did wanted a fortune or tried to flog my some second-hand ones for more than I can pay online for a new pair, so I guess a call to black circles in the morning will be in order. Gave it a squirt of the dreaded tyre weld to seal it up until I can get them here, it seems to be holding pressure fine for now. The car has a wheel wobble too so thinking the new balanced tyres should sort it out, if not then I'll be buying new bushes as well lol.
  21. Well woke up this morning to find the front tyre was flat, I had check th tyres before leaving the house yesterday so looks like i probably picked up a slow puncture along the way, I'll see what if feels like with the front tyres replaced/repaired depending on where the leak is from.
  22. Tyres are a bit worn on the front so guess I might get them replaced and have a geometry set up too see how it can be improved. any ideas the best place to get some 215/45x17's in SE london? It's running Kumho on the rear which look like new.
  23. I'm not a big fan of changing springs without getting dampers to match, the car is lowered but i'd guess the spring rates are higher as the car corners flat for a big car so must be stiffer. What would you say the cure is? Not sure about going back to standard springs as like the way it handles but adjustable shocks will probably cost more than I paid for the car lol
  24. Paul the 'Drifting' explanation are we talking a pull or lightness on the steering... Also is there any transition on deceleration or under braking? Well it feel like its drifting in the lane, seems to stop when decelerating and braking.
  25. Second-hand tyres how scary it that!..... I ask the owner do you wonder why this tyre is second-hand, a reply of 'yes the car was crashed' does not install much success for the product! I've never bought second-hand tyres after seeing the rubbish they sell, although managed to pick up a few sets of worn tyres for old cars when the owners asked for a full set when we told them the rears had plenty left in them, saying that it didn't often happen, more like them not wanting to change them even when the cords were hanging out lol
