  1. It remarkably pokey, I would say its faster than the 6. It feels very light and as such the 1.6 (122 hp) pulls the car along very well.
  2. Nope, just felt like it 'wobbled' over uneven surfaces where other cars have felt completely planted
  3. Thanks Tony. The boot is laughable, but it's the wife's runaround so will be more than sufficient. I took it out for a spirited drive and have an inclination some bushings need doing on the front. It wasn't as stable and commanding over bumps and rough road as I would have expected.
  4. Following on from the Mazda 6, Amy's Corolla decided enough was enough and is sounding more rough by the day... We ended up selling it for £500 which is a bargain to the buyer considering the work and parts I had put in to her. We have now got a 2011 Mini Cooper 1.6 petrol with 78k on the clock as a replacement. It's a fairly robust car and has already needed a new set of shoes.. I will also need to do brake fluid, brakes and other bits.. But may leave it a while as December has been hideously expensive! I have already hardwired in a dash camera as well as sorted out bluetooth steaming to the sound system.
  5. I only 5k miles a year so mpg is not too much a concern, however on the test drive, it showed an average of 37mpg. Yep It was expensive, but 40k miles and fsh.... Its like a brand new car. Our corolla has developed a bottom end knock and I have no idea how long it will last...
  6. Thanks Tony. I have read they look like to eat lower wishbone bushings, is there anyway I can slow this or prevent it?
  7. Our 2002 corolla is becoming a bit long in the tooth and my wife's new job has meant we will need 2 cars in the new year. We will keep the corolla whilst it still drives, however at 166k miles it's starting to drink oil which is a common problem with the 1.4 vvti engines... Shame as it has been a cracking work horse. Anyway, I spotted this on auto trader and it caught my eye. Full service history, only 40k miles and it's impeccable inside and out. It wasn't cheap at North of £12k, but it should last for a long time!. It's a 2.0 petrol and has got a fair few toys inside including a bose audio system, memory seats and other bits and bobs, however it doesn't come with the travel pack that has radar and adaptive cruise control which is a little disappointing. Hoping to give it a proper clean and polish when I get it later in the week to improve the depth of the paint.
  8. Link no workies, however you should buy a shed and sell the M4 comp.. You could make a mint on selling it above rrp
  9. Rich, fuel economy drop is due to E10 fuel... I have dropped atleast 50-80 miles range from a full tank.. That is over the past 4 tanks with normal driving so I know its not a heavy footed issue
  10. Rear mount turbos are not that uncommon. Also because of the turbos location, an intercooler is not always required as the air can cool in the charge pipe (due to its length). Ita a logical fix to a problem... Normally however the turbos are mounted in place of a rear silencer (back box) and hidden under the bumper
  11. Wowzers, I bet that made a great noise!
  12. That's two huge universal joints! CV = Constant Velocity
  13. Glad it passed and hope you can make use of it! With ref to your E10 question in another thread. I believe you can add dye and it separates out the ethanol.. Loads of videos on YouTube on it.. Apparently loads of classic car owners do this already
  14. Also the seat is way too far back to make that fun to ride, you will be pushing down forward of the knee line meaning awful pressure on the underside of your knee... And they are cross chaining.. (smallest gear on front smallest on rear) which is really bad for the chain
  15. That's incredible! Great you have been changing the oil frequently should keep it running healthily for many years to come
  16. Really? 16.5k miles in 21 years? That's incredible, my wife's corolla is an 02 plate and has 167k miles on the clock. That really is low mileage, how many oil changes has it had?
  17. We used to have a door at work similar to that, probably half the thickness of steel and then acoustic cones on the inside. It was for a giant audio frequency 'vibration' chamber to test satellites before launching. The vibration used to shake the building at a very low frequency and it was rather impressive. The other place they have those types of doors is for centrifugal test facilities that are build in the ground... Stops stuff from exiting the building at rapid rates!
  18. I agree and can sympathise with the effort that has gone in to it... But why do that to a nice bug, do it to a polo or golf like everyone else
  19. It was wrecked before to be honest. Slamming it and doing that to a car is just a bit sh*t
  20. Her name must be fannyschmella
