  1. this thread has gone very quiet.....?
  2. Gah! Why are they always so far away ??

Offset is the difference between the wheel centreline and the hub mounting face IIRC.
  4. Nevermind the comedy bus, what's that sat outside ?

Camber would need to be reduced (ie moved toward a more neutral position) to accomidate the extra tyre cross section. That's a given. SAI seems more complicated. I would think it may be correct unless it was a dramatic increase in wheel & tyre. Something I've been meaning to check, but always forget, is how camber adjustment affects SAI. Clearly, there must be an impact ?

The static position, and any subsequent migration, of SR would need to change to take into account the extra tyre surface.
  7. Skint one too, probably. This is promising:- Link UK model, little bit untidy and high-ish miles. Middlesex. Not too far from WIM is it ?

No idea! I think we should explore SR more thoroughly. Like, how to use the figures to assertain if the SR is correctly placed ?
  9. Besides, what kind of Geo dude would I be if I ran away when a FWD'er showed up hmmm ?

I think I should be careful of making diagnosis as I clearly have much to learn. Is there a specific couple between SR and IA ? They're defined by much the samething aren't they (interplay between Camber & SAI) ?
  11. Nope. I'd never bid so early. Gotta keep a good poker face, see ? Truth is, I haven't given up on that white Sunny Coupe just yet.

Hmn, they're already riding my butt for taking too much time over it. Anyway, so the IA can mean different things if camber is toward excessive positive or negative ?
  13. Wow someone's keen and bid £1k.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

Ah, I hadn't noticed the positive-negative. So, looks like the wishbone/mounts may be to blame. It doesn't have dedicated camber adjusters, just some movement in the upper wishbone-to-strut link. I'm not expecting much movement (~4/5') and when I tired to free-off the bolts prior they were hella stiff. Either way, seems mute untill the bushes are replaced.

Latest:- Came in after kerbing the N/S/F. A bent stering arm was replaced but the O/S/F displayed some serious geo issues. The O/S/F lowerlink (wishbone) bushes were found to be knackered. I've been trying to figure out where the issue is. The bushes were clearly responsable for atleast some of the deviance as a few minutes castor movement was observed on-screen (in real time). What would account for such a large IA and castor deviance though ? Could the wishbone be bent too ? I've managed to have two definitions of IA in my notes. From WIMs front page: and the other, I think from the forum: The two appear to contradict. Presumeably, if the wishbone was bent the Camber and KPI would be evenly affected and IA would be consistant ? We've got the car untill sometime tomorrow and I'd like to advise the customer where in the suspension the rig indicates damage.
  17. I've asked around the Nissan community to see what the situation is regarding wether the suspension can be adjusted (either factory or aftermarket bits). Building in adjustment with aftermarket stuff is something I'm keen to expand into but if nothing is avaliable I may have to leave it be.
  18. dude, you jest ? Anyway, hold the phone! Now this is my kind of car. It has E30 BMW style semi-trailing arms at the rear with no factory adjustment. Can adjustment be introduced in the aftermarket stylee ? He;s stated he wants £1k, which is quite alot for one of these.
  19. Got off my butt and took a look. Turned out to be an '89 Roadster. Sat on inoffensive but unremarkable Momo Arrows. So I has a quick poke around. Couple of dings, new roof, reasonable tyres, arhces look fine, bit 'o rust on the sills under the Roadster sill plates. Nothing too bad. oh dear gets worse left well alone ofcourse. 'think I'll have to consider imports if I'm gonna get one worth having though.
  20. "yes welding to sills and one tower but good little car" hmmm..... Having some dinner then I'm go look at that MX5 near me. Finally got some nice weather.

    Oh dear

    manufacture defect ?
  22. No. The zxoc peeps think it's a rot-box and the guy hasn't responded to my questions about the usual rot-spots.
  23. problem has seemed to have disappeared on its own! probably just the springs settling in. A knocking noise can signify something serious. I'd still get it chcked out, just to be on the safe side. I really like these later shape Legacys. Looks great.
  24. uh oh! my favourite car in my favourite colour! ebay item 270285534073
