    -Mercedes 280SL. Brought in by a local lad who has allkinds of dfferent stuff. -Rear axle. Notice the central CV joot (protected by a rubber boot) and lateral coil spring- in additioto 2x reular coils and coil'd dampners. What you could call a semi-indipendent axle.

    Personally I'd just chuck in a cheapy new panel filter an' just be done with it. Cleaning an air filter sounds lie too much of a ballache for my blood eh.

    Replacement panel filter isn't a mod. Induction kit is different, ofcourse.

    Clicking noise is usually a driveshaft. Grinding could be brakes, bearing etc. Not too hard to diagnose if you know of a decent garage to take it to

    check the alternator earth strap (asuming it has one) as a bad earth can casue odd issues like overcharging.

    General rule of thumb is if the pad friction material is the same as the backing plate then it's ready for changing, which ER's more or less are at.
