  1. Would you recommend the michelins Rich?
  2. I like the look of it but someone my size would never fit in a sprite!
  3. Nice - the TTE kit cars from this era are getting rare
  4. my 2003 Lexus has 128,000 miles now and is developing rust around the rear sills. headlights clouded as well. I was told work would need to be done next couple of years so will decide later whether or not to go ahead. nearly 20 years for a car is good going though
  5. Sounds like the Honda has plenty of life left in it - roll on 200,000 miles! What do you use to polish up the headlights?
  6. Fixed deal of 5 years at 2% odd ended and I forgot to renew it as was so busy with work - payments up of course now and the mrs is fuming with me for not sorting it. That nationwide deal looks ok will look into that as well as natwest who seem to be best buy this week
  7. I think a lot of car makers are starting to move the cats into the engine bay
  8. if you can get 300 off just a remap and downpipe then could be worth going for it!
  9. The standard infotainment system is worse than poor IMO - basically atrocious - same one as toyota. Keeps losing connection with phone when playing spotify and the updates from Lexus/Toyota cost an arm and a leg. Some can be updated to support apple car play / android so worth looking into to do that
  10. Been reading that you can get them tuned up to best part of 300 horsepower but that would turn it into a 20mpg guzzler lol
  11. The forester looks like a cool car - my neighbour has one they have owned since I moved in - the boxer engines sound good https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202209240071865 Seen this one online - Lichfield remap STI from Japan in the Scooby blue
  12. I have seen predictions of up to 8% on interest rates - I'm pretty exposed as on the SVR on my mortgage - have been looking at fixing but the fees have shot up and when you are a bit older its harder to remortgage as the banks seem to be allergic to lending to people over 50!
  13. Maybe look at Continental ExtremeContact or Pirelli as well?
  14. Nice car. You're lucky that Apple play was just a software update - I have seen some models of the same year could not be updated. As far as reliability goes, Lexus is right up there with the best of them!
  15. What is the total cost to keep it going for another year Rich?
  16. yeah true - I should have read your first post properly Rich - as you say erp is huge on a fixed deal
  17. I fixed for five years at 2.8% a couple of years back. I have seen fixed deals for ten years out there - fix as long as you can!
  18. They were really good - they did one for supercars a few years back, ferraris and lambos - that was a good day!
  19. This is a real shame. I have known Tony since his days at STS in Watford and he always took so much pride in his work - he was the one that originally calculated the correct geometry settings for my Lexus IS300 back in 2003 when I took my car to him with worn out tyres after only 4,000 miles. # One thing that amazed me about Tony was how good he was with the geometry numbers and how he could calculate things that most people would need a spreadsheet to do. From then on Tony had always done the geometry on my lexus (which I still own) and he did it again for me a couple of years back (seemingly for the last time). Always had a lot of time for Tony and was happy to take my car to WIM because I would get treated well and we would also have a laugh. Here's a photo of where it all started, with the Lexus Owners Club at STS in Watford back in 2005.
  20. Agreed that Super is the easy solution on the classics - I guess going forward that the replacement fuel lines etc will come as "E10" kits but it is still a cost to upgrade all these bits.
  21. yeah I did - only place I got get the car in at short notice - did a decent job by the looks of things
  22. managed to get it sorted down the road today - had to go local as could not drive the car very far. owning older cars can get expensive.... new brake discs, calipers and pads
  23. just tried to get my lexus into my local garage and they're saying they are two mechanics down and won't be able to book it in for about 3 weeks.....
