Tony
Since most of us will never experience the excitement of Drifting would you tell us of the highs and lows that you have experienced developing the car and indeed yourself in this new exuberant arena.....
Mat
erm........ill get back to you on that one
Mat
the highs of developing the car.....

well everyday im able to get my hands on and actually achiving something, the car has been through quite a transition over the past few years

its all obviously started with the blue one...and i got so much enjoyment out of building that car, a low, was having to make the decission not to use it currently.

a low aswell is not having the facilities to be able to get what i want doing, when i want to get it done, a current low is the amount of work i still have to get done...i am currently at a point in that i really dont know which angle to approach the next phase...i have a shed load of electronics to get done, and unfortunatly for me, i dont have the fortune to call on others to give me a hand.........

a high was getting the cage done...the low is the amount of work that has now been created by the fabricator not sticking with what i said he must do with regards to possitioning of the front tubes of the cage, as a result i now have to move both fuse boxes, as i can not re-install them in the oem possition, i also have to move the under bonnet fuse box, to give enough room, to fit in the power steering pot, and the coolant header tank.......and the biggest thing is....i hate doing electrics!

its an endless struggle at the moment..................but.....im sure i will get there given time and resources.

im hoping Mark...will be able to help a little, a bit further along the road from where i am now(wink wink)
nick the greek
Matt, what came first? White or blue? I thought it was the white?
Mat
ive had the white one new since 2001 and the blue one is a 2003 car which i got late 2003

thats the key bits you have said....... biggrin.gif

of course ill get round it, im not a defeatist, just that i had everything sorted regards the OEM electronics...now i have to cut it all up and start again thumbsup_anim.gif

and once its sorted, take it all out again, get the car painted, re-install it, then.......do all the extra wireing to run the instruments, fuel pumps, etc etc oneeyed02.png
Tony
I did think carefully before posting this thread because i did not want to be intrusive. Your build position with the Driffty captures much interest from many clubs.... Hopefully highlighting your lows will kindle interest from someone offering help with the electronics.
Mat
thanks tony, dont get my ramblings wrong, its not i cant do it, its the amount i have to do, as the saying goes many hands make light work.

for example when soldering, its kinda easier to have more than a pair of hands, and sometimes when trying to figure a solution, 2 minds make the job easier.

so pm me for an address, ill see you all tommorow

Few would underestimate your abliities Mat.... I have watched in ore over the years how you and team have evolved Drifty 1 and 2. An unquestioned commitment! however as you say the electrical issues are massive and needs to be resolved so that readiness for next years events can be realized in full.

had a very productive day today .......2 electrical engineers, 1 mechanical engineer, and miles and miles of wiring

1 to hold the wiring
1 to hold the solder
1 to hold the iron

production started into making a new loom for the monster
..................................................i think it went very well

as you may know there are a hundred trillion wires in the lexus
just ask mat how many wires we managed to cut, strip, solder, and sleeve rolleyes_anim.gif

rolleyes.gif thats because we taught you well tongue.gif
Mat
3 plugs, and 20 wires tonight..(1.5 hours). mellow.gif

its taking its time...fo sure

but that is now, everything on the steering column re wired less the nice little illuminating ring, around the key

ive still goto rewire the plugs from the drivers side that went into the fusebox, to the fusebox now behind the passenger seat, and then make the wires for the plugs for the passenger side fusebox around 4" longer

then......im at the point i was hoping to be at , last week before i got the car back with the cage in

once im happy everything works again....it will all come out again, the insides will be painted, then
re-install all the loom
put the dash back in
move and tidy up the wires for the F Con V pro
seats in
wire in the new instrument cluster
plumb in the remainder of the fuel system
plumb in the fire extinguisher
blah
blah
blah
Tony
Well don't keep us all in suspenders "How goes the work" Season fast approaching are you ready? do we have enough time to calibrate the chassis?.... What's new? jealous.gif
