Tony
This example was a rear tyre on a FWD car... The complaint was a noise but not sure where. As you can see the tyre is in an advanced stage of distortion as the wire cords progressively snap..... Driving the car a few feet i could feel my head moving side-to-side as the S shaped tyre rocked the car.

adam_r
is that a wheel manufacturing fault or would you say the side wall of the tyre has suffered a major impact at some point ?
Tony
Normally due to a cut in the tread area exposing the cords which in turn rust and snap over time.
adam_r
Normally due to a cut in the tread area exposing the cords which in turn rust and snap over time. and is that what had happened to this tyre ?

If that was me and my car the first obvious thing to check would be the wheel/tyres. A tyre like that........motorway/roads=accident maybe fatality. Utter ignorance. liner33
I had all four of my Michelin pilots do this when i had my E class , blamed on the gravel on my drive , wasnt as bad as that but the tyres had small bulges in the tread area
