MX5 NC RC Geo/tyres

Recommended Posts

Have had the geo on my cars done at WIM, MX5 NA, MGB Roadster and the current MX5 NC RC twice. The NC has also had Gaz springs fitted at time of Geo in 2011. The car sits on Toyo Proxes 215/40ZR17.

My current situation is that I want to increase tyres to 225 as 215 seem to be a little stretched and do not protect the rims as much as I would like. Also the car is bottoming out quite a lot so thinking of BC coil over set up too. Problem is the car goes round corners like its on rails, they even commented about it when I had the st2+ turbo fitted at BBR last year.

So my questions are;

Can the BC coil overs raise the car slightly without losing the on rails cornering

Will the 225 tyres fit without any rubbing problem etc, if so what are my tyre make options.

Thanks.

Hello

The BC or the MeisterR's are independently height, per-load and dampening adjustable whereas the GAZ is height adjustable but you have to alter the pre-load when raising or lowering the car. Personally i would go for the Meister.

Regarding the tyres they go like this 215/40-17 then 225/35-17

Fitting these should be fine and given worst case the camber could be moved more negative.

Hi Tony

Thanks for the response.

OK will go with your suggestion of Meisters.

Would 225/45 fit?

What make tyres are available in relevant size, I already have 215/40?

Also costings and date when can be done assume geo has to be done again too.

Thanks.

I think it would need to be 225/40 since a 225/35 would cost the earth.... As for an all-in price.... Are you sitting?

MeisterR CRD coilovers, fitting, geometry would come to £1096 inc vat ( gulp ).... In the realm of good coilovers there's no such thing as cheap.
