Horror of the week 28/12/12... Track rod end to hell

This came from a high end super car with a knocking from the front. Several company's had inspected the car and found nothing wrong. After 10min work i found this.....

To be fair the knuckle joint is hidden by a rubber boot...... But the play in the knuckle wasn't :whistle:

It came from a "race day experience" hire car. The deformity was due to the stresses on the fully loaded joint while on full lock. This pick up point ( link ) displays how much energy the track rod end has to resist during inertia moments and yaw.
