Paul Thompson
Hi all, I own a Ford Mondeo MK3 2.2 TDCi Zetec 2006. I took it for 4 wheel alignment today but the guy couldn't adjust one of the rears as the bolt was seized to the bush. With the results I have attached would this cause an issue or should I really free said bolt? TIA
Tony
Hello Yes it needs attention.......Two main reasons, first the OSR toe is pointing outside of the car meaning a wet or fast left turn the rear could rotate.... Second the front wheels use the middle of the rear for a reference point to where forward is?..... Reads crazy but the rear thrust position which is generated by a correct and symmetrical toe position would be dead centre of the car and a perfect reference for the front wheels.

Nice one Tony, thanks very much for your reply. I'll get on it this weekend. So it's the OSR that needs the attention? With that being out, would that mean that the fronts aren't aligned correctly as the rear reference is incorrect?
Tony
Yep..... Once the rear toe is moved the rear centre point will also move which as said is projected to the front. There won't be any tyre wear on the front but the steering wheel won't be level.
Rich
They didn't measure the caster! Chances are you won't free the bolt, it'll need to be cut off and the arm replaced, I had to do the same on my MK2, it's the same setup as the MK3. You can only get the bolts from Ford as well. https://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_mondeo_rear_trailing_arm_bolt_f_1117876_c_432.htm
