Renewal time again - For the Civic

Recommended Posts

So got the renewal letter and it was more than I was expecting, £385.

Cheapest online quote so far is with Admiral, which is about £320. I just tried Aviva cos they're not on the comparison sites and they want over £600!

Also I've noticed that when declaring claims some companies ask for up to 3 years, some 4 and others 5. I thought you always had to declare them if they were under 5 years ago?

Just tried Direct Line, as they're the other one not on the comparison sites and they were £415 so not much better. She has only been driving for 6 years though so needs a few more NCBs. Mind you when I did multi car quote the Accord was coming out at £350, I thought it would be cheaper, especially with insurance premiums decreasing.

I think I might have got it confused with convictions, they all say you need to declare them up to 5 years but the claims vary.

On the Admiral website it is £296 with £250 excess.

On the go compare website Admiral is the cheapest at £271 with £150 excess (£266 with £250 excess).

How does that work then!

Haha, I love calling them up with those when renewal time comes round, they always sound a bit confused on the phone

When I clicked on it to buy it did say that you won't find this quote cheaper by going direct. I don't understand how it works cos they'll be giving the comparison site commission as well. I forgot to add that quote also included protected NCB, which she currently doesn't have.

How is this for random....

First multi car quote (2 cars) last week with Admiral was around £700 with £250 excess.

Same details doing a second quote was around £500 with £150 excess.

Third quote just done now, again using the same details and it's £415 with £150 excess!

If I do a fourth will it go even cheaper!  :D

 Wishful thinking!

It won't let me buy online though, I have to phone so hopefully they honour it.

I phoned to tell the current insurers I'm not renewing and they asked why, so said I'm getting a multi-car policy. They didn't even ask me how much the quote was or to be given the chance to match it. I guess they knew they couldn't?

Well providing they will do it for that last quote it's a difference of £180 just for one car. It does seem strange how the quotes keep dropping, maybe if you don't buy it the first time they keep dropping it until it reaches a level you will pay!!

Are you sure it's saving everything correctly? I remember one of the compare sites didn't used to save everything .......

I'm not using the comparison sites but Admirals own website. Entered all the details exactly the same and checked them - unless their is a fault with their system.

I just got a reminder from Admiral about the last quote I did, which was the cheapest. The Civic was £205, the Accord £215 but the email said the Civic was £228 but when I logged in to retrieve the quote it's still £205!   I'll give them a ring tomorrow, something has gone wrong I think.

Just phoned them, nice friendly UK call centre :) The price is correct so £205 for the Civic until next June and £167 for the Accord from October to June (annual price £209). They tried to sell me extra insurance, courtesy car, breakdown cover etc but declined. There was a £5 charge for paying by credit card.

I'm so chuffed with that, what a result! :D

They say that prices might increase again so it was handy I've locked mine in early.

I said to the missus yesterday I sorted your insurance, have a guess how much. She started at £300, which is what she was happy to pay and when she got to £250 she thought I was winding her up. She definitely thought I was having her on when I said it's £205 - why so cheap was the reply! :D

When I phoned yesterday I just gave the quote reference number and I was asked how much the quotes were for. I gave them the answer and they said that was fine, it was just to check against what they had on their system. I wonder if it brings up all the other quotes I made with the same details and they see it being reduced every time?
