How did this happen?

On conventional tyre fitting machines the tyre has to slide past a shoe onto the rim

Problem with this type of machine is if the tyre fitting is very tight the tyre wants to slip under the shoe and in doing so the bead can get cut

Fitting error could be blamed for this horror of the week but i have my concerns?

1: Why was this new tyre dated 2003!!

2: When fitting a tyre if the bead gets ripped you know it's ripped, so why did the fitter allow this to go on the road?

Truly "Horror of the week".

Holy SH*T. thats serious disregard for safety!

i hope that:

1) the customer goes back to the garage that fitted these tyres and gives them hell

2) the customer gets a refund as there is no way in hell i would pay for a tyre manufactured almost 10 years ago!

3) removes those tyres and get some that are under 2 years old fitted

Also what make are those tyres, i have looked but dont see a name

I wonder how many garages check the dates of tyres that customers have brought in themselves to be fitted.

Only bought tyres online once but would never think to check the age of them. Wouldn't say the garage is free of blame though, if they knew the tyre edge had been shredded like that that's horrendous to just let it go.
