SHAHZ
Got these the other day, what do you good people use on your rims? Might as well get it on before they go on the car!
Tango
I used Poorboys wheel wax and sealer on the IS 250 19" Volks rims and continue to use it on the 'F' 19" BB's. Noticed that Christian (Invisible Touch) also used it when he detailed my IS-F, so must be good.

Slightly OT but love those wheels! For the BMW?
SHAHZ
Cheers lads, just ordered some! Cheers Parth, yep for the bm, zito 935 deep concave (csl style), been trying to source some 9.5 width all round for the last few months, just been impossible; keep getting dates and then they get extended, so thought its best to go with the more readily available 10.5 rears and 8.5 fronts in case i ever needed to get replacement! Those are going to look awesome on the car, look forward to seeing it. 9.5" seems quite wide on the front, was there a particular reason you wanted them that wide? Rich
Nice looking rims! I use chemical guys, which looks the same as poorboys. I've almost finished that so use optiseal as well now.

When you go to 9.5 and above you get the deep concave and was going to have a square set with 9.5 all round! The 8.5 isn't deep!

Ahh forgot about the aesthetics, you're right about the curve! Give me a shout when you book yourself in at WIM - I've been meaning to get my geo done for ages so this will be a good excuse to get it done and have a catch up! SHAHZ
Sounds like a plan, be good to catch up! Tyres will be here in a day or so, just need to get the coils, will probably be the week of the 1st June! Will keep you posted!
Steve-O
I use Auto glym wheel seal at the moment and that seems to do a decent enough job. I've only started looking into this kind of thing though so cant compare. It helps keeping the s***e from getting baked on for sure though! SHAHZ
Had one tyre turn up last week and the other 3 yesterday. just waiting for the sealant to come and I can apply it!
parthiban
Is 275 wide enough for a 10.5" rim? We have 275 on the rear of the Merc on a 9.5" rim. Didn't realise they were 20" wheels as well, looking forward to seeing these
SHAHZ
Yeap should just about be ok, a number of BM wheel specialists sell them as the package! as im going with coilovers, i could have gone wider, but i wanted a touch of a stretch Yeap 20 x 8.5 on rear and 20 x 10.5 on the rears! Rich
Nice one, I used to love waxing the rims on my Mondeo as I bought those from new. It's just not the same with kerbed/corroded wheels! Those tyres are massive! Are you keeping the winter ones?
SHAHZ
I was planning too, but then the thought of storing them with lack of space in the shed at the moment, might just get rid! I know id regret that if i do though as the rear slip around with the winters on!
SHAHZ
Applied 3 coats to 2 of the wheels last night Will do the other 2 tonight before it goes to Joe tomorrow! To be honest, can't see me applying it to the inner part of the wheel again as can't fit my hand though the gaps!
Rich
How long is this sealant holding up for? I bought some poorboys this week cos I found the opti-seal doesn't last long on rims. It actually seems firmer than the chemical guys, which is quite runny in comparison, so I should get more applications out of it.
SHAHZ
Not too bad mate, although first time I've ever sealed any wheels so nothing to compare it too Been washed 3/4 times since I fitted them back in June (I think) and they are fairly easy to clean, apart from the tar, and they still bead! SMARTLY
I find my Toughseal Alloy Wax lasts six months from when the go on in the spring to when they come off in the autumn, all it needs to clean them is shampoo and water. Lasts a long time on the newly tarmaced drive as well, tried hot water in a watering can about two weeks ago and it hasn't moved it
SHAHZ
Blimey has it still not come off!
