liner33
Pic from the previous thread Picked it up yesterday and It drives lovely, fantastically smooth and wafts along but livens up when you want to Its the tiptronic model and has a good deal of factory options like the Nismo body kit, xenon lights (which I think was an option on this age) and sunroof , the previous owner who was the first UK owner had it three years and added the wheels , Tien lowering springs, DBA discs and EBC yellowstuff pads and complete exhaust system from the elbow back. Its got a HKS panel filter and the two stage boost removed so it sees high boost all the time and a set of aftermarket coils so pretty stock Its clearly been well looked after but does need a little tlc, its overdue a service and will probably need a few minor parts for the mot which is due in Feb so sorting this and fitting better ICE will be my first step But ive given it a quick detail today Quite impressed with the headlights my 33 and Evo both had terrible ones but they came up nice with a polish
Tony
Wow that is a very clean example, makes you wonder why it was for sale? How are you getting on with the 4WS?
liner33
You never feel the 4ws Hicas really, the only time i noticed it on my last one was on tight roundabouts , its only a few degrees of movement The last guy had it three years and had a modified R33 GTST as well, this was his wifes car . He sold the 33 and downsized into a smaller place and was having a lot of work done I think it was just in the way really
Tony
Absolute result for you then because it looks in stunning condition..... We get to see a lot of the R33's because they are a brilliant Drift car, with some modifications obviously.
liner33
I spent yesterday detailing mind so it should look nice
Rich
Awesome, love Skylines and that one is very clean What is the power delivery like being an auto and are they still as much fun to drive compared to a manual?
liner33
To be fair full throttle isn't a good idea on cold and wet roads , you hit full boost as well as kick down so it really launches off , much smoother to drive especially in traffic my last car had a heavy and jerky clutch so I really wanted the tiptronic
Rich
I'd imagine it isn't! I'm seriously thinking of maybe getting some kind of auto for my next car, driving the Civic is making me lazy I think. Only thing that concerns me is I might forget how to drive a manual, i.e. finding that bite point!

Only thing that concerns me is I might forget how to drive a manual, i.e. finding that bite point! Haven't driven a manual since I passed my test, but have never had an issue on occasions where I've had to drive one - I don't think you ever forget, it's like riding a bike
liner33
First few jobs done , first time ive felt well enough to look at it to be honest Replaced the lower arms on both sides , the last mot picked up the boots were split but both the ball joints were totally shot and previous geo reading suggested an arm was bent so changed the entire arms Replaced the track rod ends , again both sides goosed one side really bad Replaced the front drop links as well as they were very worn Tracking set by eye for now having a decent set of rear camber arms fitted and a full geo set up shortly Rewired the fog light as it wasnt working , took ages but got there in the end
Rich
They were bad, bet it feels alot better even without a geo. Can't beat fitting new suspension bits, the cars usually feel alot more positive for it

Tony
Those ends should be in Horror Of The Week Nice to see you are sticking with the maintenance albeit overdue

Tony
Reminds me how i felt when i owned this little lady..... The love of the car didn't replace the loss of my wife so i had to let them both go... Oh well that's life... Given the chance i would love a R34 GTT......... You got me thinking now
liner33
They are cheap , lot of car for the money
liner33
Bit of a result , these came in earlier than expected So had a local specialist fit them and set the car up for now , drives so much better but its looking like some more adjustable arms are needed to set the caster correctly
Tony
They done done a good job on the geo but it's the front camber not castor that needs attention.
liner33
I dont understand this sheet really its not as well laid out as the hunter ones He spent a while explaining about the caster but i guess its running out of camber adjustment so perhaps some new upper arms are needed
Tony
Caster is fine at +6 degrees but the camber is to deep compared to the rear.
liner33
Speaker upgrade Bought a pair of Vibe Slick-6 6.5†speakers to replace the factory option Carrozzeria (Pioneer) woofers and tweeters . I started with the front as they are the most important but I may well end up fitting a set in the rear shelf as well although I’ll do away with the tweeters The stock tweeter and woofer The Vibe woofers were a nice fit which was more luck that judgement as I was expecting to have to make up some spacers but they fit the stock housing just fine after a little trimming with a Stanley knife On my last cars I have preferred the tweeters a little higher, ideally you should fit them in line with your ears so on the pillar but moving them around with a bit of blue tack on the back I have found I like them on the back of the mirror , however since Nissan had drilled two holes in the door card for the stock tweeters I was kinda stuck for location. Drilled out the hole and got the tweeter to fit nice and snugly , its stuck in with some hot glue as well so wont fall out , the crossover that come with the speakers is pre-wired and quite small so I also stuck with hot glue out of the way on the back of the door card Cheap and easy job and massive improvement

liner33
Passed the mot today ! Hicas removal might be on be cards though as the rear ball joints aren't great and were an advise Going to get it mot'd again in Oct , it was a real handful driving it this morning a 300hp rwd auto isn't ideal on icy untreated roads , a little unintentional drifting happened occasionally
